The amount of chronic benzo use in in-patient psych wards is wild. A 62 year old psychiatrist just told me she’s using it with a patient to regulate mood. We’re trading long-term cognitive decline for short-term obedience. Sad.

Good to see FDA/ASAM guidance on benzo tapering recommend a hyperbolic taper, following the Maudsely Deprescribing Guidelines, differentiate physical dependence and addiction and warn of protracted withdrwal. Small steps forward
