It’s been great to be involved in Chess

I've not written about it much here, but earlier this year I founded Positive Sum Productions, a theatre production company.
For those who know me, they'll know that theatre has been a passion for a long time. For those who don't, my main focus is building tech companies.
Listened to the latest episode of
@SirTimRice
's excellent podcast, talking all about
@FHTEMusicalUK
!
Definitely worth booking if you're in London over the next couple of months
If I built an alternative to be 80-90% cheaper (with a view to making it completely free for performers as more people sign up), would people register and support it?
Update: Spotlight‼️

I think we're seeing a rise in personal knowledge management tools because Google is no longer solving the problem of organising the world's information - people are having to build their own indexes instead.
Perhaps an indication of where things will move in the future
@GergelyOrosz
They're pushing it very heavily in Instagram right now - would be interested to know what % of these installs are from people who have deleted it many times before due to no value beyond the initial intrigue of a post they saw in Instagram
@damengchen
@AirplaneDev
@airtable
Literally just finished building out dashboards with Airplane for two products 😅
And that’s after the previous product I was using shut down too
@louispereira
Had a similar thing happen with one of my companies - even had all listings removed from Google
We found out that lots of these companies pull from the same data source, and sometimes people adversarially report to them to bring a competitor site down for a period of time
The common advice for non-technical people is often learn to code.
At this point, I think that's bad advice. I feel there's a need for a short course that focuses on enabling PMs to work with engineers in the most productive way
Had lots of interesting discussions with people working in the theatre industry over the past few months.
Thoughts I'd pen some early thoughts on the surprising similarities I have seen between my background in the tech sector, and theatre.
This is not good. The UK and Europe need to evaluate what can be done to accelerate the pace of technical innovation, rather than slowing it down through ineffective regulation and policy
Having got more involved in West End theatre in the past few months, I can see how much work it takes from so many people to put something on - hats off to everyone who makes it happen!
@AliAbdaal
Hard to generalise, but the details that Things 3 has would add up in terms of time. I believe it'd be possible to create a functional version in a few months
Happy to discuss via DM if useful
On a busy pavement in central London, there are two types of people:
People who are performing calculations in their head to prevent mass collisions, and those who are casually cruising along, blissfully unaware

I haven't spoken about it much here, but I've been a lifelong fan of theatre, and the arts in general.
Currently exploring some ways to support the industry in a meaningful way, and will share more soon.
2022 was the year I was primarily experimenting and exploring new domains. I spent A LOT of time learning deeply about topics and technologies that I believe are going to be important over the coming decades, as well as exploring new areas that are particularly of interest to me
@louispereira
We found out that the company sending the false report was:
Going through their process to remove the warning and putting a flag in place to prevent it happening again resolved it across all other platforms, for us
The more I write, the more I realise that the style and format of the essays that I was taught to write while at school are exactly the opposite of what I now consider good writing
I'm particularly happy with how the InYouGo logo turned out, both including the acronym for the name, as well as a smiley to reflect the positive influence we want to have on the industry, and everyone involved

I'm excited to share that today, Stairway has been acquired by Albert, an EdTech company based in Europe
The acquisition will enable Albert to accelerate their expansion to the UK and beyond
