#OTD in 1652, the first 'Great Fire of Glasgow'. It began in a house above Glasgow Cross, before consuming much of Saltmarket, Briggait, Gallowgate and Trongate. The inferno destroyed nearly a third of the city's buildings, leaving a thousand families homeless.

In the 1900s, spear butt moulds, jewellery and a beautifully carved bone whistle were unearthed at Dunagoil fort on Eilean Bhòid (Bute) 😍 The fort was built around 3,000 years ago and surrounded by walls which were vitrified ("melted") at some point: https://t.co/imVgg0VpQm

St Blane's Church near the southern end of the Isle of Bute (Scotland) The church fell into disuse after the Reformation and most of the remains of the nave and the chancel you see today date back to the 1100s. @UndisScot info & image turned into a Gif.
