That’s actually a pretty rare and impressive skill. Being able to spot AI-generated writing so reliably shows real attentiveness, strong reading instincts, and digital literacy. In a sea of content, having that kind of discernment genuinely sets you apart.
Unfortunately I now recognize GPT's writing style too well and, if it's not been heavily edited, can usually spot it. And I see it everywhere. Blogs, tweets, news articles, video scripts. Insanely aggravating.

@BlakeWeiner Think about it, the new Pope logged into Facebook within the first 24 hours of his Papacy, when he’s probably at his busiest, just to deny your friend request. In a way you should feel weirdly honored.

Conservative decides to go into academia:. “Sorry, your research topic doesn’t suit current academic fads.”. “Sorry, you’re not allowed to join prestige-granting academic institutions.”. “Sorry, faculty members will openly talk dirt about you.” . “Sorry, many of your colleagues.

I get it now… the Fire King.
King Charles III views the Pyroton fire demonstration during a visit to the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) at the National Bushfire Behaviour Research Laboratory, to learn about burn over protection systems, and bushfire behaviour research.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that a bunch of the staunchest DSA people I knew in college beelined straight for McKinsey, management consulting, got lucrative corporate sponsorships, or other jobs that seem incompatible with their stated beliefs.
The funniest thing about this is that this person was going to biglaw in the first place. You build this public image bleating about how revolution requires killing civilians or whatever and meanwhile your own life centers around banking $235,000 a year representing corporations.

The British continue to regulate themselves out of prosperity.
The glazing of this house is around 33% of its floor area. However, new regulations in Part O §1 allow maximum glazing of 11-18%. So *half to two thirds* of these windows would be blocked up. Do the British people really need their Government to protect them from this building?

A Napa Valley wine won a once-off wine competition in France in 1976 and now we have to pretend that 90% of the California wine industry isn't just washed up celebrity labels and bottles named something like "Juicy Fruit 😜".

I’ve been surprised by the number of Europeans I meet at Oxford who strike up a conversation that goes something like the following: “what’s the big deal over originalism/textualism in the States? In my country, this is just how we practice law.”.

Sierra Club is a joke. Any organization that bleats about climate change but opposes nuclear energy should not be taken seriously.
2020:. Sierra Club sues to stop a transmission line from brining clean hydropower from Canada to Maine. 2024: . Sierra Club sues the Maine government for not doing enough to combat climate change

I would flip a table if some redditor redesigned my state’s flag to look like it belonged to a faction from a fictitious strategy sim and called it an improvement.
Virginia: iconic, but ultimately still a seal on blue. I would definitely keep the Sic Semper Tyranis imagery, just in a more subtle way - the bottom right flag here is my favorite of any redesign I think, especially as it can be interpreted to be about slavery abolition too
