BREAKING: Cuomo has fled the NYC mainland following its fall to socialist Zohran Mamdani. Sources say he will establish a new govt on Staten Island with the goal of eventually reclaiming the entire city. Mamdani has promised to purge all remaining Cuomintang on the mainland.

The reasons for this are pretty obvious: Sears was weaker than Youngkin, Spanberger is an electoral juggernaut, and Trump fucking federal workers. It's dangerous to extrapolate the results here nationally (it's good for Dems, but we won't see a 10 point swing in 2025).
The Northern Virginia shifts here are quite striking -- all double digits. Shutdown effect?

In what world has Trump made the GOP more moderate on abortion or gay rights? Sure, he'll say stuff but that's literally meaningless. His judges are overwhelmingly right-wing """religious freedom""" types.
@JosephONeillx @ezraklein I think it’s because relative to where Republicans were under Mitt Romney, Trump has actually made them more moderate on Social Security, Medicare, abortion, and gay rights.

Just bought that subway builder game made by @Colin_d_m. It's basically crack, and is going to consume me. My one disappointment is that it's so work oriented. I get it's a data thing but I wish there were stuff like museums, bars, or other apartments that people went to too.

I think people underestimate how much of a mess the GOP will be once Trump is no longer keeping their coalition together. They don't have a coherent ideology anymore besides tax cuts for the rich and selling out to corporate interests. E.g. foreign policy will be a huge debate.
