It's also cynical. The right is, once again, casting about to blame school shootings on factors other than guns. But targeting transgender people is much more vile than targeting goths, punks, emos, Marilyn Manson, video games, etc.
I really can't imagine what kind of person you have to be, what kind of values you have to grow up with to deliberately and knowingly distribute false information for the purpose of enriching oneself at the expense of another vulnerable group. Lowest of the low behaviour.
