I think it’s important to level set here. The reason that “law fare campaign” materialized was because Senate Republicans lacked the courage to convict him after January 6. He should’ve been barred from running for office ever again. People like to leave that part out.
It's pretty far beyond dispute by now that the lawfare campaign against Trump was both a huge electoral failure & a disaster for American civics.

Have always believed the first female president will be a Republican. A lot for the sexism Dem women experience would be blunted by media commentary like this. We saw a little bit of this with Haley.
I can see why people say if we’re going to have our first female president, it will be a Republican.

Maybe but I do think folks should be more critical of what Planter actually believes instead of trusting vibes and optics. Bashing Democrats is cool on the campaign trail but less so when it’s time to actually legislate. That is the real lesson of Fetterman.

My hot take is that when people (in the media) were evaluating presidential cognitive fitness, one of the considerations should have been, 'is this (old) man completely detached from reality or not?' and not just, 'is this old man 3 years younger than the other old man.'

You’re not following. Corporations follow public acceptance and political opinion. Rainbow capitalism followed greater rights and acceptance of LGBT people. What we are experiencing now is a backsliding of that progress.

The press spent the last two years of Biden’s presidency focused on the economy and his age. Now we have a weaker economy and a clearly diminished Trump and the press is not as interested. It’s clear the press is avoiding holding Republicans to the same level of accountability.
