Averil was failed by every #NHS organisation. The @PHSOmbudsman report took four years to complete and even after it was published, services have not improved. "Short-term reputational management" takes precedence over open and honest learning. #eatingdisorder #mentalhealth

‘A lack of communication, planning, and care.’ These were the conclusions of independent experts reviewing Averil’s care. These mistakes cost a young life. @NHSEngland #NHS #Negligence

The Norfolk Community Eating Disorder Service @CPFT_NHS failed to provide even basic care for Averil. These failings should never happen to another family. Help us raise awareness. #NHS @NHSEngland

To honour Averil's Life. To help protect other patients and sufferers of Anorexia from a similar tragedy. To find out the truth - exactly what went wrong with Averil's care. @NHSEngland #NHS #Anorexia

Averil is more than a statistic. She was a vibrant, loving young woman whose life was cut short due to negligence at @NHSEngland . We must address these systemic issues to prevent further tragedies. #nhs #failure

Anorexia Nervosa is a life-threatening condition. Early intervention and proper care are critical. Averil didn't get the care she needed from @NHSEngland , and we can't let this happen to others. #change #NHS

Yet more disastrous care at @CPFT_NHS Cambridge, why have they not learned anything from Averil’s death? This trust continues to fail their ED patients leading to unnecessary harm and the potential for yet more loss of life. https://t.co/y1rEmwbauF #NHSfailure

Averil loved life, she loved her friends, and had big dreams. Averil was more than just a number in the #NHS system—she deserved so much better. #Anorexia #NHSFailiure

Too many lives are lost due to #NHS negligence in #eatingdisorder cases. Averil's life could have been saved. We need systemic change and transparency in NHS care.

Averil Hart was a bright, beautiful 19-year-old with a promising future. Her life was tragically cut short by Anorexia Nervosa and systemic NHS failings.

We're hearing about Primary care doctors this morning telling patients (@rcgp) that elevated PTH doesn't mean they have a #parathyroid problem because vitamin D is in range. @NICEGetInvolved your guideline NG132 review can't come soon enough because it is causing GPs to tell lies

We've heard today that a surgeon with long waiting times is consequently offering his patients a new option. 'Would you like surgery or to 'wait and see?'.. ummmm, get my life back or wait and see if I have a cardiac arrest, kidney stones or fractures?.. let me think about it...!

@SpSallie @GerriMartin9 And this is what is so infuriating about women's health. Post 40 EVERYTHING is considered menopause & women are expected to shut up and put up. It's so wrong. Why does menopause cause raised PTH - it doesn't!

Discussion about costs to the NHS of the 'watch and wait' fiasco for #hyperparathroidism. One comment: 'Watch and wait cost lives. By the time most of us get surgery on the NHS, the damage has already been done, some of it irreversible. Thus costing more money in the long run.'

Thinking of Emily G and her family. So sorry that #cpft #nceds and #nnuh are failing families again. @PHSOmbudsman #medicalnegligence #ED

This week I started the “first line” treatment for my eating disorder for the first time. I was diagnosed in 2004.

The @HSJ has identified at least 15 avoidable deaths since we published our report in 2017 on how NHS #EatingDisorder services are failing patients 👇

NEW: The author of a parliamentary report into “failing” eating disorder services in 2017 says the number of concerning deaths still being reported five years on is “very distressing”

Biggest mistakes hospitals do is appointing ill trained doctors and nurses out of desperation and it is patients who suffer. @NHSEngland @NHSEnglandNMD @NHSLeadership @NHSProviders @RameshMehta15 @ParagSinghal09 @yvonnecoghill1 @DrHNaqvi @rogerkline @aneezesmail @vinod_gadiyar

Another day @ Averils inquest & we have been reminded by the Coroner not to make any public comment now about proceedings which is understandable. There will be a lot to say afterwards. RIP Averil #mentalhealth #EatingDisorder #patientsafety
