I want to explain to constituents why I’m supporting resident doctors who are taking strike action. I know strikes are unpopular with many people. I understand that. When doctors strike, it can feel worrying or frustrating, especially when it affects patients and their families.

My colleague and I left work 2.5h late today as 3 resident doctors called in sick. No escalated rates, no cover. Likely the same tomorrow. Exhausting. Then I read Jean & Mike’s messages on the BMA strike fund. For the first time in days, I felt seen.

These examples collected in just 2 hours from asking 6 random colleagues! If you work in surgery and *don't* see (or hear about) #SexualHarassment, perhaps think about why that is. Hint: it is happening where you are. Yes, really. From @RCSnews Bulletin- https://t.co/YBkgQ3q4Wr

Reports from @FT show 6k+ applicants for just 1700 training posts last year. Doctors are being left in limbo, without posts and unable to progress in their career. In an understaffed NHS this is a scandal. Government must urgently increase training posts.

Training logbook numbers by specialty relative to 2019. Millions fewer procedures performed with/by a trainee. Consultants - remember that you were all trainees once. Time to train the next generation! Every case is a training case. #NoTrainingTodayNoSurgeonsTomorrow

Using an exoscope camera to record open surgeries in a sterile manner, just like we do with laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. Nice technology to enhance visualization for the team and record videos of complex Hepatobiliary and Transplant resections and reconstructions.
