We've got something cooking here in Iowa 👀
Senate Minority Leader
@ZachWahls
out-raises GOP Majority Leader

7:1
@SarahforIowa
out-raises GOP Senate President Jake Chapman 5:1
Those are not typos.
-Flipping the Supreme Court
-Unrigging the Republican gerrymander
-Keeping the Brewers in Milwaukee
-Massive shared revenue reform
-Historic funding for public schools
-Well managed COVID response
Tony Evers' tenure has been wildly successful
Scott Walker's recent electoral history:
2016: Flames out of presidential race
2018: Loses re-election
2020: Walker-appointed justice Dan Kelly loses Supreme Court race
2022: Walker's LG loses GOP primary for Guv
2023: Walker-appointed justice Dan Kelly loses Supreme Court race
Maybe Chuck Grassley can have a chat with grandson Pat. The elder Grassley in the 1960s: "We cannot give public funds to private schools."

In an attempt to prove she's doing a good job,
@KimReynoldsIA
shared a
@DMRegister
article that includes this exact quote: "The nation's recovery overall has been faster than Iowa's, a trend that continued in February, when it added jobs at twice the rate Iowa did."
Wisconsin voters will go at least twenty years(!) without having a say in who controls the state legislature. The district lines are rigged to secure GOP control no matter what. The warning lights on our democracy are flashing red.
BREAKING: Wisconsin Supreme Court adopts GOP maps for legislative districts in 4-3 ruling, calling the GOP maps "race neutral."
Justice Brian Hagedorn sided with fellow conservatives after previously backing
@GovEvers
' maps.
Here's a link to the ruling:
Instead of focusing on 24, conservatives should counter radical indoctrination in schools. Gen Z voting for Dems cause all they hear is the radical left. We need to make a positive case for more freedom, not less. It’ll take longer than a campaign cycle. That’s why I am at
@yaf
Here's the efficiency gap statistics for the Wisconsin and Iowa maps, and why Robin Vos is using the Iowa model for his stunt:
WI Congress: R+16.5%
WI Senate: R+13.1%
WI Assembly: R+10.8%
IA Congress: R+16.9%
IA Senate: R+7.8%
IA House: R+6.8%
The "Iowa model" is deeply flawed and there's an easy backdoor way for the legislature to gerrymander. Republicans in Iowa were considering using it in 2021 until they got incredibly favorable maps and didn't need to gerrymander. Vos knows this, hence the press conference.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos holds news conference to announce “Iowa style nonpartisan redistricting” process which will be on the floor for a vote Thursday and take effect for 2024 election cycle
Will far-right Justice Rebecca Bradley recuse herself because she has received donations from
@WisGOP
and actually tried to rig the 2020 election for Donald Trump?
News: GOP lawmakers are seeking to force liberal
@janetforjustice
off a pair of redistricting lawsuits, based on donations she received from
@WisDems
and past comments the current lines are “rigged” for Republicans.
See more in today's AM Update:
GOP Senate Majority Leader
@jackwhitver
doesn't even live in the IA Senate district he's running in, yet he can still run. But Dem
@Abby4Iowa
can't run for US Senate because 3 people didn't include a date, which isn't even required by state law?
Our democracy is in danger, folks
Iowa Senate Republicans say they won't answer questions during floor debate anymore because of a court ruling that used their words against them.
Democrats and transparency advocates are alarmed and are accusing the GOP of governing behind closed doors.
Incredible acknowledgement here. Iowa Republicans have been in complete control for nearly 5 years. The fact that Iowa schools are unsafe is completely their fault, and their fault alone.

Daily reminder that Indigenous people helped flip the state of Arizona by turning out in record numbers.
Would be awesome to hear more of their stories and what they hope happens under a Biden administration.
Really proud of our hardworking Democratic candidates and
@SenateMajority
fundraising numbers. If I've done my math right, Iowa Senate Democratic candidates outraised GOP Senate candidates by $424,265 between January 1 and May 14!
!! Sen.
@SarahforIowa
SMOKES IA GOP Senate President Jake Chapman in fundraising this period - she outraises him $107,205 to $18,272.
Here's the most important difference: 72% of Chapman's funds came from PACs; 99.6% of Sarah's donations came from individuals.
BREAKING on
@AP
A state judiciary disciplinary panel has rejected several complaints lodged against Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasiewicz that alleged she violated the judicial code of ethics for comments she made during the campaign.
None of these amendments actually prevents Robin Vos and the Republicans from gerrymandering using the process, which again, is why they were proposed. Robin Vos has identified this specific model because of the loopholes; these amendments are purely cosmetic.
This is just cuckoo bananas shit from Robin Vos. What are we doing here? Reporters are calling retired republican justices to find out if they are on a fake panel to make up a fake case to impeach Janet Protasiewicz?
Kelly tells AP that he's not on the panel. Gableman isn't on the panel. Former Justice Wilcox tells me he's not on the panel, same with Geske.
That leaves five living justices that could be on the three-person impeachment panel: Prosser, Roggensack, Sykes,Ceci, Butler
863,006 Wisconsinites have already voted (+4,383 from yesterday).

@DanRShafer
WILL has been at the forefront of rigging everything they can think of to give Republicans more power over the past 12 years. Their crocodile tears now are only because their house of cards is rapidly collapsing.
How could a "fair" and non-partisan process produce such skewed maps for Republicans in IA? Because the IA code actually requires packing of districts, which tremendously benefits Republicans. Robin Vos would gladly take a slightly less severe GOP gerrymander over no gerrymander.
I’m so honored to have met and gotten to know
@toddforiowa
over the past year and a half. Todd worked his ass off this campaign, and Ankeny residents will get a genuine, hardworking legislator if they send Todd to the State Senate tomorrow.

Here's a map of the shift from the presidential results. Winker did better than Biden in nearly every reporting unit, doing much better in western Jefferson County.
The WI Supreme Court ruling today is a win for the rule of law and the integrity of our elections.
But our democracy is being severely tested. We were 1 WI supreme court justice and 1 member of the MI board of canvassers away from a really ugly situation.
4 of the last 6 presidential elections in WI were decided by 28,000 or fewer votes, but one party has rigged the game so egregiously in their favor that they are guaranteed at least 60% of the seats in virtually every election.
.
@repvos
doesn't deserve any attention for the ridiculous stunt he's trying to pull.
But he does deserve attention for the obvious way he's getting rich off of being the Speaker of the Assembly.
Cannot overstate the importance of this past year's state supreme court election when Wisconsin elected
@judgekarofsky
and changed the court from a 5-2 conservative majority to a 4-3 majority.
Looking at Milwaukee County election results. Biden netted 20,243 more votes than Clinton did in the county. Biden's margin of victory in the state of Wisconsin is 20,540.
If I was a newly-vulnerable assembly republican, I would be so pissed at
@repvos
. But hey, that's what they get for mistaking the safety of their gerrymandered majority for political savviness.
1,130,940 Wisconsinites have already voted (+103,355 from yesterday).
1,571,055 have requested an absentee ballot (+77,184).

Underwhelming numbers for
@KimReynoldsIA
just days after her underwhelming SOTU response.
What was billed as her big breakout week turned out to be a complete dud.
Wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for
@SarahforIowa
. Her decision to relocate within her current Senate district & run for reelection in Senate district 14 is one of the most selfless political actions I've ever seen. We're so lucky she is a member of our caucus.
I'm sick of this bullshit media narrative.
This isn't a blow to
@GovEvers
.
It's a blow to Wisconsinites who want to keep themselves and their loved ones safe and healthy.
In the latest blow to
@GovEvers
in his reaction to the coronavirus, a Sawyer County judge has blocked Evers' new order issued last week limiting the indoor capacity of bars and restaurants:
“What's next: Flipping Michigan's Republican-led Senate to Democratic control in November…The rising star has traveled the country speaking to and raising money for Democrats, emphasizing "critically underfunded" and overlooked legislative races.” 😤😤
Democrats focusing on state legislative races and taking back control of state legislatures across the country IS the plan to protect and expand abortion access.
Comparing the 2020 election to the 2012 election in Wisconsin really shows how strong Obama ran here. Despite running about 6% behind Obama's net margin, Biden did improve over Obama relative to his statewide margin in the most populous and growing counties.
There's literally a Republican running for local school board in the Des Moines suburbs who pleaded guilty to domestic terrorism this summer. Why won't
@kaufmannGOP
condemn extremism in his own party?
Iowa’s concerned parents are not terrorists.
This is what
@iowademocrats
think of us. They believe WE are a terrorists for standing up for OUR children.
These types of comments should be taken down and Iowa Dems should apologize.
This Republican State Rep gives the game away. They know the Iowa model would project their gerrymandered majority, which is why they are "suddenly in favor" of it, as Ron admits.
@DanRShafer
The worst? No. Gerrymandering is the worst thing they've ever done, because it enables them to do all the other terrible things, such as reject $1.6 billion in federal funding.
We stand with the striking
@UAW
members fighting for fair wages and benefits.
Hard work deserves fair pay. That's what we believe and what we're fighting for everyday.
Just cast my first ballot as a registered Democrat in Iowa! I voted YES on the bond measure to clean up our waterways and improve water quality in Polk County. Polls are open until 8pm, make sure to go vote today!
I paid off my student loans at the end of 2018, 5 years ahead of schedule. I'm very privileged to have a family & job that allowed me to do this, but I also prioritized paying off these loans & I'm proud of this accomplishment.
I still 1000% support cancelling student loan debt.
Rep. Glenn Grothman: “Some Congressmen this week wanted to overturn the results in two states, Arizona and Pennsylvania, by voting to not certify the electoral votes in Congress. I am sure that James Madison and Alexander Hamilton are spinning in their graves.”
.
@emweinert
does this mean we have to rewrite all of our training materials where we talk about how state leg races aren't sexy or like anything you see on TV?
Republicans understand this dynamic so well. They know that when they grind government to a halt, they may take some blame, but Democrats get punished because our voters get frustrated and exhausted by inaction. That's exactly what's happening in VA right now.
NEW: New data suggests young voters are growing more frustrated with elected leaders. Some may be on the verge of ditching both political parties altogether.
That’s a big problem for leading Democrats as well as their House majority.
This is what a gerrymander looks like. Despite Wisconsin Democrats winning a healthy majority of the vote in 2012 and 2018, the number of seats they won remains within the range of seats the gerrymander was designed to produce for Wisconsin Republicans. The outcome is rigged.
Here’s a summary of what we know about

-Packages for Whitver were found on his doorstep at his actual Ankeny home

Neither GOP Majority Leader
