ICYMI: I was glad to announce $18.6 million to support public improvement projects in 21 communities across the state. From a new fire station in Ridgeville to street and utility projects in Abbotsford, these funds will make a real difference for local families and communities.

I want to thank state and local emergency management, as well as FEMA, for their quick work to assess damages. Now, I'm urging President Trump to approve our request without delay to help the folks, families, and communities, who are counting on this disaster relief.

Damage estimates are over $33 million and more than 1,500 residential structures were majorly damaged or destroyed. A presidential declaration would ensure we receive the resources we need to support clean-up efforts and make sure communities can rebuild and recover.

Having been on the ground to see firsthand some of the areas that have been hit hardest by these disastrous storms, it’s clear it’s going to take a significant amount of time and resources to recover. While the state has been working diligently to respond, we need more help.

I made a new friend while visiting Henry Vilas Zoo to learn about their Teen Summer Program and meet with students who participated. These young people did great work this summer learning from zoo staff and creating advocacy projects to support our wildlife and natural habitats.

I was glad to join local leaders for the Rothschild Dam modernization project groundbreaking. This dam has served the area for more than a century, and we were proud to help support this project and the community's long-term growth with $42 million in our bipartisan budget.
