Things don’t have to be this way. Progress is a policy choice.

When do you ever see a spread like this about a human driver running over a cat? You don’t, and yet it happens 15,000 TIMES EVERY DAY. YES. FIFTEEN THOUSAND CATS ARE RUN OVER EVERY SINGLE DAY.
KitKat, known as the "Mayor of 16th Street," was killed by a Waymo cab last week in San Francisco, sparking calls for more regulation of driverless cars. https://t.co/GyAvZwSb2a

My family dog was killed by a hit and run driver years ago. Obviously lots of people have similar stories. We didn't get news coverage or a supervisor pushing to have voters choose to allow cars in each individual town. The way this is being covered is insane.
A growing memorial marks the spot KitKat, a beloved fixture at Randa's Market in San Francisco, died late Monday night after allegedly being run over by a Waymo robotaxi. "If I were the Waymo PR team, I would be hoping that this whole KitKat thing just dies. And, that's not

Waymo hitting a cat that darted out is tragic, but no one hits animals and pedestrians in San Francisco w the same vigor as @SFMTA_Muni. Will Supervisors @scsherrill, @DannySauter, @bilalmahmood, @mattdorsey, @RafaelMandelman performatively support the resolution banning Waymo?
The supervisor’s expected resolution would push for voters to approve of driverless vehicles operating in their cities.

Waymo hit a cat that darted in front of it, so progressive Supervisor @JackieFielder_ wants to ban Waymo with the support of Teamsters who ran over a teacher in a school zone in her district.
The supervisor’s expected resolution would push for voters to approve of driverless vehicles operating in their cities.

the fact that “restaurants can put out some chairs and a table without a permit or fee” is a big reform in San Francisco should tell you how deep a Kafkaesque bureaucratic hole we’re in lmao
Putting out sidewalk tables and chairs for your business is easy: fill out a free form, learn the rules like keeping sidewalks accessible, and you’re good to go. No permit or free required. We want San Francisco’s businesses to bring our streets to life—just follow a few simple

Chinese AV companies are comparing themselves to Waymo, fudging their own numbers and pretending the leading U.S. company didn’t hit this milestone 6 months ago. It's America's race to lose.

Pete Buttigieg said in a new interview that he and the Biden Administration should have done more to accelerate the adoption of autonomous vehicles: "I think there's a potential to save a huge number of lives. Every day 100-150 people die on our roadways to car crashes and

I've got a new article out today on how autonomous vehicles are going to make life more affordable. (link below) AVs will: -reduce transportation costs, -reduce the number of cars households need, -lower insurance premiums, -reduce medical spending on accidents 1/2

I was really surprised when I first saw this chart on water use by data centers. Given how much it gets discussed as a supposed problem I would have expected it to be more than this.

Good morning, Boston! Let's talk AVs🚗ahead of today's City Council hearing on a controversial order to essentially ban the life-saving tech. According to data from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, over 620,000 motor vehicle crashes have been recorded in the past

If you live in Boston, now is the time to make your opposition to this ban heard by calling your Councilmember
Today at 2pm EST, Boston will consider becoming the first major city in the world to ban fully autonomous vehicles based entirely on vibes. Waymo is involved in 5X fewer injury-causing collisions than humans, and employment in SF's taxi and limo industry grew by 7% last year!

The Tokyo formula isn’t too complicated: Invest in transit and allow developers to build housing.
Tonight, Zohran bemoaned how much less housing NYC builds compared to Jersey City and Tokyo, then went on to express support for nuclear energy. I think my brain is having a dopamine overdose!

We'll be ready to operate in Washington, D.C. next year if it is legal to do so. We need the City Council and the Mayor to enact commonsense regulations that enable Waymo to operate fully autonomously like we do in SF, LA, PHX, ATX, and ATL.
