In a disappointing setback for the cause of good government and fiscal responsibility, Board President @RafaelMandelman’s contracting reform legislation was today sent back to committee on a 6-to-5 @SFBOS vote. The reason? It sought to eliminate an advisory body that has.
City contracting is broken. If San Franciscans had any idea how many wasteful “feel-good” mandates have been piled into our city contracts over the decades — to make competitive bidding LESS competitive, and goods and services MORE expensive — they’d be as infuriated as I am.
