History student at Columbia. Tweet about bad baseball, all things South Florida, random funny (to me) thoughts I have, and sometimes even on-campus discourse.
Noting that I have no way of knowing, for sure, whether any of the people who fomented and enacted actual violence on campus last night were Columbia students. Based on how student and non-student protesters have acted in past, it seems more likely that most were not students.
It is possible violence from non-students may normalize violence from students. That is why it is important for all protesters, inside or outside the gates (from SJP's leaders to those who have joined in the last few days) to condemn violence and/or separate from those who won't.

. But it's not clear that the on-campus violent actors (against Jewish counter-protestors) were not Columbia students. More to the point: there is a continuum between on-campus and off-campus. Speech creates general climate
Full text of a speech I delivered to media gathered outside Columbia today, calling on university admin to take tangible action to protect its students and allow them to humanize each other:
Asking Minouche Shafik if students at Columbia have read the Bible and if she understands that the US is a Christian nation is ignorant and stupid in so many ways, but mostly because WE READ GENESIS IN REQUIRED CLASSES
“When I spoke about the things that I have heard from my peers about anti-Semitic incidents that have happened to them, I included incidents that are Islamophobic incidents on campus, to me it is really a cultural issue that needs to be addressed.” Yoni Kurtz w/

No question, Dee Gordon’s first home run of 2016, the first game back after José’s death. That is why baseball is great.

Due to the unfortunate recent COVID-19 outbreaks nationally we regret to inform you that all classes will be...and there’s a drive to deep left field by Castellanos, it is gone... moved online thank you for your understanding during this trying time for all of us.
From my vantage point, all of these points (Chait’s article and Klion’s response) are true.
Reactionary politics and the reactionary and violent responses to said politics fuel each other. Weird to say, but this is one of the main things I have learned at Columbia this year.
There are campuses that have managed these protests without major incident. The people who decided to help the right-wing thrive are Shafik, Adams, Hochul, and ultimately Joe Biden.
Have seen this to be true—when I called out antisemitism alongside other forms of identity-based hate in October, casting all as manifestations of similar problems, I received overwhelmingly positive responses from across the ideological spectrum. I wish Columbia had listened.
Who tortures themselves watching until the 28th pick of the nba draft, but doesn’t know the Warriors won the championship? Wondering what niche ESPN is targeting with their graphics…
Things I discovered today: 1. If you sit on hold with the
@CollegeBoard
for more than 25 minutes the music changes and it gets wayyyy better 2. Calc BC was much easier than uploading my responses

The snack guy on a flight is the worst guy. We get it dude you have unlimited access to skinny pop at your office for some reason, no need to flex on the rest of us…today I will be the snack guy for the first time wish me luck
If this really is the end of Twitter, I just want to clear the air with all 104 of my followers. Elon Musk has been running this acc-, as there’s a drive into deep left field by Castellanos and that’ll be a home run, and so that’ll make it a 4-0 ballgame.
A two hour flight delay is definitely annoying, but believe me, it PALES in comparison to the guy across the aisle from me narrating the entire thing to the other people in his row as if he’s watching Game 7 of the World Series

I’m going on record now:
If they try to cancel the Spicy Bistro Chicken, if they try to force me to eat reasonable amounts of food or use a napkin, I will not bend, I will not waver, I will not break.
On MSG that glorious additive I stand.
And I’m proud to pound China Bistro.
That paper contained dozens of scandalous references to the overt racism from media, fans, and MLB teams that Clemente faced and overcame.
Maybe the State of Florida should rescind my award for writing about such a dangerous topic...
@TheRealSangy35
46 years to the day..... I’m writing a research paper about Roberto Clemente, his life, tragedy of his death, and triumph of his legacy. I’d love to get your thoughts, if you are interested please tweet back at me.

When I was in high school,
@FLHistoryDay
awarded me with the "Sports Heritage Award" for a research paper that centered on the "Triumph and Tragedy" of Clemente's life and career.
Saw a walk-off home run in person tonight, which makes me think of that time I hit a walk-off bomb in whiffle ball and an adult said to me "Now that'll save you a lotta money on therapy"
My online courses at Columbia trying to teach about the difference between correlation and causality with seemingly random correlations of stats but all I see is vindication for Jesper Berg

Hi Trevor, I just took AP Calc BC, when submitting Q1, I took pictures of my responses, and uploaded them successfully. Since I had some extra time, I decided to go back to the question to see if I could finish a part of the Q I hadn’t completed... however, going...
