Users don't read.
Users prefer to learn by doing, not by reading instructions. Every extra word is an opportunity for users to abandon the product. They have more important stuff to do.
This is where intuitive design come into play.
Let's break it down 🧵
🚀 AI for Product Builders: save a bazillion hours reading user feedback & writing JIRA tickets!
Here’s how we envision PMs having even more superpowers with + ChatGPT🧵
Reflected on this tweet given OpenAI's shipping cadence...
3/1 – ChatGPT API
3/1 – Whisper API
3/2 – Chat mode in Playground
3/14 – GPT-4
3/23 – Web search for ChatGPT
3/23 – Plugins, making ChatGPT a platform

Almost 70% of this batch are AI companies 🤯
Here’s my 9 favorite pitches:

We’re YC founders. Of course we use YC SAFEs 🧡
We launch our product. And then we launch it again. And then we launch it some more. Until someone notices it. And we pivot. A LOT.
We are YC founders. We love doing things that don’t scale. Like finding users to talk with. We
Product managers, who at your company defines the product vision, strategy, and roadmap?
This morning,
@JustAnotherPM
reminded me about a blog post I wrote on this topic a few months ago.
I impulsively applied to
@ycombinator
last min.
My application video was just the first take where my 1-yr-old didn't scream in the background 😅
You, my friend, have another 5 hours to apply.
Go go go!
Today, I suddenly became a US citizen 🇺🇸
From the little stateless girl seeking asylum in Sweden, to the woman I’ve grown up to be living & working in many countries & cities, I’m so proud to call America my home.
Product managers, let’s chat about prioritization frameworks🧵
Prioritizing features is both an art and a science. I’m a big believer in creating custom frameworks based on the situation, but they’re often inspired by popular frameworks, like RICE, MoSCoW, Kano, etc.

@YCombinator
changed my life.
We got in, I quit my product exec role, and started

Pivots later, we're the top copilot for product teams.
YC apps due next week:
Apply so that

can amp your startup!
How do you create your 1st product team as a founder?
Books/posts are for training aspiring product leaders.
Most founders can't weed through that.
So here’s my short guide to PM for founders🧵
We’re back on
@ProductHunt
today!
Much news:
🤖Instant summaries of 30+ user feedback sources.
📝AI written user stories.

Check it all out and give us a boost!
Kudos to
@mwseibel
and
@YCombinator
for hunting!
My founder journey so far…
Uber for monitoring tasks (2011) — Learned some coding to build a quick prototype. Applied to YC. Lost interest in the problem and went into academia.
Athleisure brand (2016) — launched MVP but targeted the wrong crowd → A pregnancy from hell halted
I’ve referred 100+ female founders to
@YCombinator

And I will refer more!
YC applications are due TOMORROW.
If you’re a female founder, please DM me 🙌
Product managers: which PM skill has made your personal life more delightful?
I’ll start: ruthless prioritization makes founder life and parenthood not mutually exclusive 💪🏻

Since our MVP launch, I’ve sent an update email to users every week.
Looking back over the year, our mighty little team rolled out 136 features!
Here’s my 5 favorite ones 🧵
Adding my pivot story to
@lennysan
's pivot list:
Uber for monitoring tasks (2011) — Learned some coding to build a quick prototype. Applied to YC. Lost interest in the problem and went to grad school (proving the point that it's easier to get into Harvard than
@ycombinator
!)

Stop and smell the roses🌹
For me, that moment was to spend time with the Kraftful team last week.
I’m so grateful to be building an amazing team of talented, creative, fun, and caring individuals.
My heart is full ❤️
Wrapped up our team offsite 🔥
Being a fully remote team, it was wonderful to get together in San Francisco, get to know each other better, and celebrate our progress.
The team has grown, but we’re still hiring. Check out our open roles:

In one year,
@Kraftful
's user base grew from zero to 30K product teams.
To attract our first 1000 users, I went where product folks hang out (here!) and tweeted about N/A beer.

22 years ago,
@npew
and I became a couple on 2/2/2.
We moved in together almost immediately — in high school!
I remember it as a glorious year.
And yet, somehow, each year together is better than the previous.
Congrats my love!
Months ago, my 5-yr-old & I made a children’s book with DALL-E.
A fun rainy day activity, but his first question: now can we sell it?
Back then, DALL-E was still in closed beta & couldn’t be used commercially🙈
But it can now! Kiddo’s first venture👍🏻
Incredible! Being product builders, I’m sure y’all will appreciate this speed to market:
11am: OpenAI launched GPT-4→ we got on the waitlist
2pm: we got access to GPT-4
4pm: we rolled out GPT-4 powered analysis
Needless to say, our engineering team is pretty badass!
Who’s topping the ‘product’ leaderboard?
Women!
Interesting plot twist to “women don’t use AI.”

👋Hey product folks: what’s your favorite ChatGPT prompt?
My go-to: “is this {update/email/tweet} to {specific audience} grammatically correct and well-written?”
It proofs the message and suggests clever improvements for the appropriate audience 🦾
Happy YC demo day!
As I was telling to a group of YC alumni last night, I'd love to be one of the W24 founders pitching my company today — as nervewracking as it was back in S19!
@YCombinator
only gets better every year.
Let’s go W24!
Want to run a smooth product demo?
Here’s top tips I got from 40 PMs in the past 20 hours.
Product Twitter at it's best 🙌🏻
Anything missing from this list?
Product folks, what are your fundamental assumptions about user behavior?
My core assumption is that users don't read.
So in-product instructions must be easily scanable at a glance.
Every extra word or ambiguously worded sentence makes users disengage.
I was interviewed by
@stripe
about startup building in an economic slowdown.
Look forward to their report with interviews from
@ycombinator
founders & others.
In the meantime, here’s the main takeaways from my interview🧵
16 years ago today, I married
@npew
in Kivik, Sweden.
We had a celebration planned today, but found ourselves on different continents.
Congratulations, my love!
As a founder CEO, I want to get better sleep at night so that I have a clear mind to deal with the problems keeping me up at night.
There’s the user story.
Anyone building this please? 😅
