I keep having strange dreams about ChatGPT creating physical objects instead of text. Curious how far in the future that is 🤔

@yanatweets I'm just now imagining Picard saying, "Tea. Earl Grey, hot." to ChatGPT. That probably wouldn't end well.

@yanatweets You can already create 3D shapes from text prompts (not ChatGPT but a recent solution from Nvidia). Won’t take much to send the output to a 3D printing service.

@yanatweets You mean text2text interface to 3d printing. Feel close...

@yanatweets I wrote this article about the various outputs of AI. I am going to add 3D to it.

@yanatweets Only a matter of time until someone uses it in conjunction with a 3d printer

@yanatweets It need to be trained to do so. I’m wondering if in the near future it will be able to create scripts for 3D printers. Would be insane!

@yanatweets Currently chatgpt is at secretary level (drafting letters) it has a long way to go. What’s your thought on >> Conversational GPT-4 for Tax Accounting + Insurance + Finance

@yanatweets Doesn't seem like a good fit yet for current models, outside of design ideas They're better at producing good approximations rather than exact answers, which is why they work better for art and writing than math and physics Iteration is also more expensive in the physical world

@yanatweets At this speed, I think ChatGPT will start creating models using 3d printers in a year or so.

@yanatweets Makes me think about the already-feasible pipeline from user->GPT->image generator... which isn't something I've seen, yet. Maybe we don't know why we would want it. Or it's too expensive. Or we want more user intervention at the different stages. ?

@yanatweets Getting ChatGPT to create a prompt, getting a 3D model created for it (next step) and then 3D printing it?

@yanatweets Probably already here, chat gpt could probably read out CNC or 3D printing instructions for objects, if it had the necessary training data. The more factories become digital and robotic the more they could also be controlled by an LLM like chat gpt.

@yanatweets 💯. I went from words to images, to full movies/stories to physical things.
