Ridiculous pension tax bill. Aged 49, 14 yrs as a Consultant Trauma Orthopaedic surgeon 26 yrs in NHS. a tax bill greater than what I have paid into the pension over the yr. Time to retire / reduce hrs / leave uk and work abroad @goldstone_tony @theresecoffey @KwasiKwarteng

.@Jeremy_Hunt my wife and are NHS consultants. Our combined pension tax bill for the last year is £30k. So what do we do? Retire seems like the best option. Wave goodbye to our expertise. There is no incentive to stay. Or you could change the rules. But you won’t. Cheerio.

@Jeremy_Hunt @goldstone_tony @RishiSunak I am a 54 yr old surgeon. No private practice. Just been advised by IFA to retire or go 1/2 time & pull out of NHS pension due to impending unaffordable pension tax bills. About to breach lifetime allowance too. You said you’d fix it.

Brown envelopes arrived. Looks like the government have fined me for treating too many cancer patients. Would have £100 extra per month in my pocket if I worked less. Madness! Should I cut my work and make waiting lists worse? @goldstone_tony @Jeremy_Hunt

@RoshanaMN Thanks for reaching out @RoshanaMN I've been raising the pensions issue repeatedly & it was a key recommendation in our recent workforce report. It is crazy not to fix this when there is such a big capacity crisis in the NHS - will keep on the case...
