βWhy should we read aloud in class?β βThe teacher reading aloud and expertly modelling fluency (pace, expression, volume etc.) is likely a better bet than selecting underpractised pupils to read.β https://t.co/BhN1Z0JdxD

"Every Child A Library Member"....wouldn't that be wonderful? @LoveWestLothian π
The Every Child A Library Member programme is a simple, consistent approach to children's library membership. It aims to ensure every child in Scotland can access the valuable learning resources available in public librariesβ‘οΈ https://t.co/Vvs3vXMJyz

This is a great idea for bringing grammar and punctuation alive and demonstrating that they have a purpose - it's not about learning rules in isolation or doing meaningless exercises out-of-context.
Support pupils to discuss grammar and language. Use a living sentence. Give pupils a sentence, with one word or punctuation mark on each min whiteboard, then ask them to arrange them in an order that makes sense. Lots of decisions, discussion & a deeper understanding!

Potatotastic! A big well done to the participants of the 'Potato Book Character Competition'. It was extremely difficult to choose winners as each and every one of the entries was wonderful. #literacystnics @wl_literacy #BookWeekScotland
