A student from our enhanced provision for Autism wanted to sing in assembly. Obviously we needed help from our students. Silence on entry. Waiting to applaud until he’d put his ear defenders on. The next videos show how important empathy is and how remarkable YP are 1/4

Have read the article and still don’t know what it means
Exclusive: Schools will face a legal duty to record their use of non-disciplinary isolation and report it to parents under plans being developed by the government https://t.co/Ib6U6dVUO2

This morning's Guardian report is about something that's been happening, and accelerating, for over a decade. Why "Some schools in England [are] taking up to six times more SEND pupils than others" is explained in my blog post: link in next post.

The government is determined to push further enrichment opportunities in schools, but is there the capacity and money to make it happen? It appears not... Excellent piece from @JabedAhm
Exclusive: More than a third of teachers who run enrichment activities do so outside of directed time and without pay, according to research that raises doubts over the DfE’s drive for schools to run more extracurricular clubs https://t.co/4X2W7fkyUA

100% right. Been there & done that! Guilt is a useless emotion as it does nobody any good! @Headrest_UK we talk to many headteachers going through similar situations. It’s good to talk. Every HT needs an external coach & should be supported by Govs but most of all by their staff
I wrote this for me - to try and help find the balance that is very challenging right now. Please share this with any leader that may need to read it right now.

By someone who is still learning how to keep their footing. There’s a moment in every school leader’s life when the plates you’ve been spinning for years start to wobble in a new, unfamiliar way. F…

Being inclusive and welcoming the whole community continues to be punished whilst those homogenising their intake get rewarded. Over 100/1200 young people with an EHCP in a school changes the workload and increases financial strain. Everyone knows that but continues to be ignored
❗Some schools are at 'breaking point' amid a widening gap between the schools with the most and fewest numbers of pupils with education, health and care plans, research warns https://t.co/9TYyE03MJ6

@SchoolsWeek Inclusive schools: breaking point. Schools that avoid SEND pupils: doing fine. Interesting incentive structure we’ve built here.

Over 200 views and less than a day since I uploaded the video of five former HMI chatting about the positive (not many) and negative (many) aspects of the 'renewed' inspection framework. We hope it proves useful for school staff and inspectors.

So we have already got to ‘schools are bound to game the new system’ like not offering any child subjects that didn’t match EBacc maybe? Followed by ‘obviously we’d never dream of gaming’ as they sell their schools as ‘the academic choice’
