For anyone interested in the #BigDataBowl, this is a really valuable thread.
One year ago, my life changed because I won the NFL Big Data Bowl with @SmitBajaj by building on top of @SumerSports transformer model The same architecture powering ChatGPT may be the key to this year’s competition as well 👇

MacDonald's biggest blight this season imo

His wheels this season have been very impressive. Seems like Pass Rushers can never get to him once he escapes.

Hopefully someone tries this without having versatile nickels like Hamilton, Emmanwori, etc. Otherwise people will say "they can only do this because they have that one player". I really think this is much more viable than teams think, even if run efficiency goes up.

Greg Olsen is so based. The next DC that figures out how to coach a defense without letting offense dictate personnel to them is my prediction for the "next big defensive trend" (E.g. like Staley Rams + 2-high).
Greg Olsen explains 3-WR run plays and 2-TE pass plays from the best play callers. If he was a DC, he'd match down-distance tendencies rather than match with personnel. https://t.co/jmc6YirJIg

Also seemingly running volume. Even if you are bad at it, DCs seem to respond heavily to the volume in which they think you have been running on tape
This is not to say that the overall statement is without merit The best play in football is passing when the defense is trying to stop you from running There are many ways to do this: * Play action * Formations * Personnel * Running QBs * Tendencies

Didn't have time grab data for this request *exactly*, but only 4 RBs out of 38 (~10%) "bounced back" from a down year in on-field athleticism (in years 1-4). Those players: JT, Saquon, Antonio Gibson and Joshua Kelley. Really sad for Gibson 😢.
@uditranasaria @SumerSports Interesting, thanks. How often would you see a RB tick back up in years 5 and 6 after two down years (regardless of if through injury or other)

It's truly wild how used to every seahawks fan got used to games being close and exhilarating. I have basically tuned out of seahawks games after Q1 3-4 times this season already. It's wild.

We don't see him as "faster than ever" but he is definitely recovered from a few seasons where he was struggling with health. Incredible season from JT.
I don’t get how he’s seemingly faster than he’s ever been this year. He’s still young at 26 but 6th NFL season with various injuries, and three high volume college seasons. It’s incredible, he’s a treat to watch

Teams are rarely paying RBs good money, rarely drafting them on Day 1 in the draft... yet are asking very steep prices for half-year rentals.
Trade deadline fallout: — How coveted was De’Von Achane? — Who else was in the CB market? — AD Mitchell nearly ended up somewhere else. My story: https://t.co/pdiyJIbGQj

Our @SumerSports SumerScore is *obsessed* with Quentin Lake this season. To me he is the emblem of this cool Rams defense. I have a depraved excitement to see if the Dime Heavy Cardinals and Rams slow down the Seattle offense in the next 2 weeks.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: The Rams are doing cool, creative shit on both sides of the ball. And it’s helped turn them into arguably the best team in football. We dug into it on the Athletic Football Show’s Week 10 preview. https://t.co/Bmqzap558I

Disheartening tbh. I get the Rockies are an alluring opportunity but it feels unlikely he feels like his time in Cleveland was finished/successful. I wonder if he feels disillusioned about the difficulty of converting process to results in football.

Takeaways: - JSN has absolutely showed a new gear this season - Horton has been really productive, but hasn't shown elite high-end speed. - Shaheed brings that new gear. Saints hadn't used him deep this season, so he still might show his max athleticism in 2025 with Seahawks
It's rare to see a player actually get faster after they get drafted. @jaxon_smith1 has done exactly that, according to this data from @SumerSports. He's estimated to be running roughly the same speed as Rashid Shaheed.

All of these should have happened. The NFL is getting more liquid... But there isn't enough non-blockbuster trading that happens. I wonder if teams spend so much time trying for blockbusters that fall through that they miss out on smaller deals that could really help them too
Five things I wanted to see at the trade deadline that didn't happen... 1) The Colts getting a veteran backup QB. I don't want to see them stuck with Riley Leonard at quarterback into the playoffs if Daniel Jones gets hurt in the second half, especially after the Sauce trade.

With the way things are going, I think the Seahawks are happy to let the run game flounder if DCs still think its important to stop. I think the Seahawks will be a worse offense if/when DCs play lighter boxes and lighter personnel against Seattle's 12 looks.
A lot of focus will be on how Shaheed can add to the Seahawks passing game. My eyes will be on how he will force teams to stay in Cover 2 even when Seattle is in heavy personnel, which will allow the run game to flourish. This is a multi-faceted boost for the 6-2 Seahawks.
