I am so bored of hearing politicians saying that the country is being held to ransom by trade unions whose pay demands cannot be afforded when that is not true. A thread…..

I instruct an upper-year undergraduate course on Healthy Aging at @queensu - for one of the assignments, students were asked to create an infographic discussing a common myth about aging. I have permission to share some of the infographics with you... 1/7

The Hancock farce & Williamson disgrace are symptoms of rot at the heart of this Tory Govt. We've had 80 ministerial resignations or sackings in the past year alone. We can't put up with this rotten Govt any longer - we need a #GeneralElectionNow Me on @bbcquestiontime #BBCQT 👇

1/ Congratulations to @grantshapps on his appointment, the 5th BEIS Secretary of THIS Parliament. Fair play to him, one of his aliases was Michael Green, which could be a good sign. 🙂

Utterly bewildering Govt attack on solar farms. Solar is a win-win for energy & food security - it's *9 times cheaper* than climate-wrecking oil & gas (and much faster to deploy too), and fields with solar panels can still produce food. Who's behind these nonsensical Govt plans?

"we have listened". Too late - untold damage from this reckless duo. #Resign. #GeneralElection
"We have listened" Kwasi Kwarteng has announced a U-turn on the plan to cut the top rate of income tax. In a statement shared on twitter, the Chancellor says the "abolition of the 45p tax rate has become a distraction" #KayBurley: https://t.co/WUnquWvHqf 📺Sky 501 and YouTube

“A country in which you can’t see a GP for months & your mum can’t get an operation for years, where beaches covered with sewage & the trains don’t work, is not one that can stand another round of spending cuts.” Excoriating from @chakrabortty👇

In 25 years of reporting, I have never seen a financial crisis so utterly avoidable, and dragging so much human misery in tow, says Guardian columnist Aditya Chakrabortty

There are overwhelming physical & mental benefits to more access to nature - yet we only have a legal #RightToRoam on 8% of English land & 3% of rivers. Today my Private Members Bill is published, calling for @Right_2Roam to cover rivers, woods & green belt - Govt must support it

If only there was some way to prevent these "horrible stories of suffering" - perhaps don't join the queue? Surreal energy to this #thequeue #queue
Five-mile queue to view Queen Elizabeth II's coffin will 'see horrible stories of suffering' -Up to 400,000 to see Queen lying in state -Mourners may have to queue for 30 hours -Stewards told to watch for elderly strugglers https://t.co/8GLBcJMKaC Thread:

What Emily Maitlis seemed to me to be saying in her Edinburgh lecture was that there are truths that need to be told that can be stated as facts without requiring rebuttal. A short thread to discuss this…..
