"The Duck, nature's triathlete, flying high and together off the Willamette River, representing the Conference of Champions" - Bill Walton, before pulling out a duck call
Ott has 2157 rushing yards with a bowl game to go. He needs 1211 to top Russell White for the most career yards for a Cal RB. He certainly has a chance to do that
Got a chance to talk with

last night, the Charles T. Travers Football Athletic Scholarship recipient. Cannot overstate how good of a dude he is. Also guest appearance by

Tonight, raise a glass to Bryce Turner, in the memory of a young man who worked incredibly hard, was loved by teammates and coaches, and is gone far too soon. My condolences to his family, friends, and teammates
I wrote Thursday that this game could be an inflection point for the program if
#Cal
won. They did. There's plenty to fix, but goddamn the Bears look better now than they did 7 hours ago
Hello Twitter people. About a month ago, my dog Nox was diagnosed with cancer. She's gone downhill since, and my partner Kylie and I have decided today is her last day. We did a family photoshoot last week, and I wanted to keep the memory of her being happy alive.
GA embraced the hell out of Cal over his three years in Berkeley. He gave me a talking to prior to an interview for wearing a red shirt. He's a big part of Cal's defensive turnaround and why I have faith that he's going to be a DC if not a head coach in the next few years
Just found out Drake HS in San Anselmo was renamed Archie Williams High School. Archie Williams taught at Drake for 21 years after running track at Cal, winning the 400m at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, and serving in the Air Force as a trainer for the Tuskegee Airmen
Source: Another Stanford player in the transfer portal. LB Andrew Pryts is listed as a graduate transfer. He had 72 tackles for the Cardinal last year.
Celestine deserves some massive props for taking over at the end with Tyson out. Same with Newell defensively, both of those guys played huge stretch minutes
A lot of joy in rewatching Cal-Arizona just for Ott's performance, but also for the TE play. Latu and Mojarro made some nice catches and Terry is throwing guys around as a blocker (see Ott's second TD run)
Bump Bloesch up to OC, find a QB coach would be what I'd do. The spread run seems to be a solid fit for Cal's personnel, worth keeping that piece in place
For a throwback, a photo of myself and former Cal QB Mike Pawlawski at the first open practice/fan event of the XFLs San Francisco Demons at AT&T Park. 8 year old me had one hell of a bowl cut
Taking the Twitter outage as a sign that it's just about closing time for the 2021 EDSBS Charity Bowl.
Here's one final leaderboard, your first look at the top 50 donating teams.
But stick around ... we're adding a bonus round. Details to follow. 😉

I sincerely hate when an offensive player's whole game is run into the paint and draw a foul, Collier getting every call has been infuriating when he initiates all the contact
One of the more satisfying parts of college football is seeing guys "get it," a la Neo at the end of the Matrix. Uluave stepped it up in the USC game and wrecked house against Wazzu and UCLA. He's a great player to build around on defense.
UDFA linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk - he of the unbelievable interception on Thursday night - has been informed he made the Panthers 53-man roster, per source.
"We've talked about it before, Weav is like the villain in the WWE, just the guy who can..." - Justin Wilcox
"He's like Macho Man (Randy Savage)?" - Me
"Right, I think that's a great analogy." - Wilcox
I have made it
First, I would like to thank the University of Florida for the NIL opportunity however, after receiving a full scholarship to UC Berkeley. I am decommitting from UF and I’m fully committed to the University of California, Berkeley.

Every commitment tends to happen while I'm otherwise busy. This weekend, I'm at a wedding. Usually, it's in the ice cream aisle at Safeway. Ott is the highest rated commit in Cal's 2022 class
Breaking:
#Cal
has received approval from local health authorities to practice in 75-player groups. Bears are good to go this afternoon.
All

teams are cleared for camp
As I'm doing my prep work for the Big Game, I have one fun personal note, that this Saturday will be the 97th Big Game that a member of my family has attended. Pretty neat (I believe I've been to about 20 or so, memory gets a bit fuzzy around 1998)
Cal has looked to address its needs at linebacker, and the Bears added another piece to the group Monday. Luke Ferrelli completed his flip from Stanford to Cal today becoming the 14th member of the team's 2024 class.
1. The PolySci department at Cal is one of the best in the world
2. Berkeley admits more low-income students than the whole of the Ivy League
3. I swear, everyone that makes negative statements about Berkeley has likely never been there before (unless they're about parking)
Whenever Cal books an OOC matchup, my hobby has been to go on to the other team's message board and see how long it takes for someone to make a 'California is dirty/syringes in the street/human feces/descending into communism/Fox News talking point.' Usually within five responses
Spent a good 15 minutes with my partner watching Marshawn Lynch and Jahvid Best highlights. In her words:
"I'd watch football if it were all like this."
Seeing good people have good things happen for them is always great. As good as he as at his job, Marshall's a great dude on top of that and has worked to have this quick of a rise.
Back in the Bay.

Raiders are hiring Gerald Alexander as their safeties coach, per source.
Alexander spent the last 2 seasons as Steelers assistant defensive backs coach. He also ran Dolphins DB room from 2020-21 where he became a favorite for many players. Now, he aims to do it again in Vegas.
Temple transfer offensive lineman Victor Stoffel has committed to Cal, his representative Miles Jordan tells On3.
The 6-foot-8, 282-pound lineman picked the Golden Bears over Texas A&M and UCF. He spent last two seasons starting at right tackle.

This is heartbreaking to hear about this morning. Dog was a staple of
@CalFootball
, this year would have been his 51st with Cal. He joked with us about having jumped out of 'perfectly good airplanes' while in the military. He will be missed
This one hurts deep! I have never known
@Calfootball
without you Cyril Bud "Dog" Turner. You were my best friend and like a dad to me! Love you Dog! "It's a Great Day to be a Bear" 👊 Rest in Paradise!!
Rewatching Cal vs. Tennessee from 2007, and two non-football things stand out:
- Brent Musburger is virulently anti-treesitter
- I forgot about Nate Longshore leaving two tickets to every game for Jessica Simpson (which he stopped doing in 07)
Read through Cal's spring roster, couple thoughts:
- Only two scholarship QBs on the roster in Mendoza and Rodgers, the other two walkons are guys wearing numbers in the 20s (one from my HS alma mater)
- No Stredick, but surprised to see Mason Starling still has eligibility

's legendary produce section has about 3,000 different items at any given time — and cashiers have to memorize all of them.
@diannedeguzman
learned what it takes to do possibly the hardest cashier job in the nation:
For the most part, college football and recruiting comes with the pitch of a family atmosphere. These young men want to be taken care of like they're family. That's absolutely worth fighting for.
