It shouldn’t be underestimated how hard it is for a big city like Manchester, with high levels of need, to get Outstanding for its children’s services. I’ve seen first hand how this is changing lives & outcomes for vulnerable children. https://t.co/2hx9tAuz1m

Manchester's social workers are described as an "engaged, positive team" striving to help children.

We are so proud of the improvements in our children’s services at @ManCityCouncil as today’s @Ofstednews verdict shows - testament to the hard work over many years by our political leaders, partners and our amazing staff team. Huge thanks to you all #Manchester #socialcare

It's time for real ambition: embed the UNCRC, write a new Children Act for this generation, reform the inspectorate so it works better for children, end profit making in social care, make sure every child can receive loving care until 18 and beyond. Children deserve far better.

A pension-age household of two people with a combined income of just under £70,000 will receive a winter fuel payment. This is going to become increasingly harder to justify when young adults in work who earn less receive no support at all despite having higher housing costs.

@RobertJenrick This post by Jenrick, who is supposed to be Shadow Justice Secretary, is particularly disgraceful. As a lawyer, I am sure that he has in his time represented the interests of clients who he either found unpleasant or disreputable. Maintaining the rule of law and our freedoms

Still after a couple of Pompey tickets for some mates who missed out if anyone hears of any going, even just single tickets. Can collect and will pay cash. #hcafc

In the last week, Labour hit a crucial milestone on getting rid of hereditary peers, unlocked £1bn funding for social housing insulation, initiated plans to regulate buy-now-pay-later lenders and started to coalesce around an HS2 replacement. Barely any chat about this at all.
