My 9yo’s @canva prompt for her (voluntary) planet creation project: “orange planet habitable for wombats”. Yea, things are NOT the same anymore 😂

That last line outlines our role perfectly:. 1. What do we attend to and why?.2. Hold the line and ignore the rest. 3. Rinse and repeat. There’s endless value in playing that role and that will only become more important as we progress.

As JBP explains:. “There are a near-infinite number of ways to categorize - hence, to perceive - a finite number of objects. We do not and cannot attend with equal devotion to everything occurring always and everywhere around us. Instead, with every glance, we prioritize the.

And actually… it’s only an illusion that this is becoming important now. It has always been the case. But because our bandwidth has always been in high demand to actually execute on the plans we make… it hasn’t been as obvious that prioritization, goal-setting, and alignment.

Instantaneous access to any data you could possibly need isn’t as helpful as you would think. As AI absorbs more and more of the intellectual legwork, our role as “guide” becomes more and more important. “What” to work on and “why” we need to work on it is THE problem to solve.

Without a goal and a narrative, we drown in complexity. From @jordanbpeterson’s We Who Wrestle With God:. “The world is simply too complicated to attend to and navigate within the absence of aim and character.”. As LLMs rapidly improve, this has become more clear than ever.

There are always a large variety of paths available. If everything you focus on is pre-filtered through an optimistic lens, you’ll be left with a set of positive opportunities and solutions, all with upside. This is not woo-woo, it’s just how perception works.

This is the weekend for full AI tool immersion. I’ve seen enough (e.g. using Operator yesterday to recruit for me 😲) to be convinced it’s time, given what’s out there for use already, and the pace of development of what’s coming. Wild times!.
