Synthesis Tutor is off to the races. We are on pace for well over $10M revenue in 2025. Subscribed students up 4.5x year over year. Families clearly want a trustworthy AI tutor.

A previously homeschool kid joined my public school in 9th grade. His maturity was closer to a college student. He had interests outside of our absurd colloquial status games. People said he was weird. I remember wanting to shout at them "Can you not see it? WE are weird!".

We need education that treats “problem-solving” as aspirational. Most kids today will go through school (and life) never even being exposed to the idea that you can use your talents to solve problems for people. The result is a society that creates more problems than it solves.

It’s time for common sense machete reform.

I am a single issue voter and my issue is removing this type from any position of authority, at every level of society, from the FTC down to the local school board. I never again want to hear a glorified hall monitor talk about “letting” free men achieve great things.

Have a lefty friend whose parents grew up and married in East Germany. He once told me “For what it’s worth, my Mom said they were happiest while living there.”. Me: How long did they stay after the wall came down?. Him: Touché.

Went to El Salvador recently. Asked some women if the country was really safe now. Involuntary smiles lit up their faces. Told me there was no place in the city they wouldn't feel safe walking alone at night. Give this to people and they will beg you to be President for life.

Have to block you if you say something like “you just described learning styles.” Sorry, but you’re too dumb to be here. Learning styles as most people use it is when people say “I’m a visual learner”.

"Learning styles" is a nonsense idea. There is essentially a known best* way to learn anything. Our approach is to curate those best ways and put them in a product. *Sometimes there are ~3 "best" ways to learn a concept, and you just need exposure to all 3 so you find the one.

54 million K-12 students in the U.S. 180 days in a school year, let's say 30 minutes spent learning math each day. Comes to ~5 billion hours of math learning (though most of that time is wasted) per year. I can't see a future where all of this doesn't move to Synthesis.

Everyone in America over age 35 remembers the past being a better place. Nostalgia as political strategy.

Unpopular, but we should have a little more compassion for Stanford/Harvard kids. Most are going to be painfully unimpressive by age 30, and will suffer the additional torment of watching several classmates become billionaires.

Innovative schools are tough to scale because most people just want to fit in. You are basically targeting people who think they are too good for their other options. And you can't say this directly because parents wisely avoid expressing such thoughts publicly.
