I am a huge proponent of teaching words in pairs. You not only learn what a word is, you also learn what it is not. You also make students differentiate between the two with an added spelling component right away. At the end, Ss write which word on their MWB's.

By focusing more on student anxiety and the need for safety teachers can help kids experience the self regulation they need for learning, says Gravity Goldberg.

I’m convinced that lesson delivery is the missing piece for many. I’ve seen targeted lessons based on student need, solid materials, smart groupings…and kids still aren’t making average + progress. Why not? They usually are missing these pieces.

My life's work has been figuring out the most effective way to support teachers through professional learning. After 25 years of research, this article is the summary of what I am thinking right now. It's one of the most important articles I've written. https://t.co/EDJhxJmzLZ

@KateMessner Post 3 Kids learned about animal tracks in science. They also learned about snowflakes and then made snowflakes used to decorate the hallway. It has a been a hit! They are asking to keep it up all year, but we have big plans...Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt.

Bookworms should get all “greens” Other programs EdReports has marked as all green do nothing but theoretically check off phonics boxes. Districts then adopt them thinking they are buying quality programs only to find they’ve been tricked into spending millions on faulty curr.
Ohio shaped its 2024 list around EdReports. It made some revisions, but @ehanford’s reporting tells us the original EdReports-inspired list is what most schools purchased from. How many years will our schools be stuck with flawed programs? How can EdReports not revise its work?

Handwriting skills serve as the foundation of broader writing skill development. Only once students learn to generate individual letters accurately and fluently are they able to develop spelling and more complex writing skills. One common way to present the development of writing
