The funniest thing to happen in my career yet: . Super Rare asked me to pull this piece from their show & make another one. Told me it wasn't suitable for the trad art gallery crowd who'd be there. I chose not to. They apologised, said it was going in, then pulled it anyway😆

Read yesterday that in 1948, De Kooning had his first solo show. He was 44 years old. None of the paintings from it sold. Not one. Only a few years later, he had another show & all of it sold out, helping to make his name and properly launching his career. The paintings that.

Rothko's colour fields didn't happen till he was in his 40s. He'd painted for two decades prior. Pollock's famous drip paintings emerged when he was 35 years old, having painted for 20 years beforehand. All of the most iconic Van Gogh artworks were made near the end of his.

Memecoins were fun but for a while now it's mostly now cabals, grifts and rugs. Turbo and BOME have probably been the most authentic of all of them imo, of this batch. Low Quality Cat too. Ones created and led by well known or doxxed people, with strong communities.
