Tight uropod-to-uropod contact between two isolated syncytia. Could one of them have fusion-replenished surface CD4? (~25% of syncytia have surface CD4!) ...is this a VS? from @msymeonides, also independently observed by our grad student Emily Whitaker!

Immunomagnetically-isolated HIV-induced T cell syncytia, an assay 15 months in the making and nearly ready for prime time! Isolation made possible by surface-expressed split-GFP in donors/targets and a whole-GFP-specific nanobody @ChromoTekGmbH @STEMCELLTech. by @msymeonides

Our EWI-2 preprint is now on its 4th version on @biorxivpreprint - lots of new data (and authors!) added, and currently under peer review. The new Figure 6 is a great teaser of the direction we're now headed... HIV-induced syncytia are pretty special!
