1/ THREAD: Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I think that much of this problem is conflating issues of pathogenesis (causes) w/ the more salient clinical issue of attn to palliation (relief of Sxs/improve quality of life) and showing respect/empathy for the indvl @edyong209.

We haven't internalized as a field how much In My Experience medicine can't work. Provider sample sizes, selection biases, recency, anchoring, availability - they're all much stronger than the absolute risk reductions of almost all treatments.
