I'm at the end of the foundation programme and here are my thoughts and rambles and ruminations: Firstly, the foundation programme felt like a prison sentence to me. (This is going to long and multiple tweets, potentially many tangents, forgive me)

Itโs not the BMA โundermining the trade union movementโ. Itโs a Labour Prime Minister, writing in the Murdoch press, urging junior doctors to break with their union leadership. Thatโs a direct attack on trade unionism. Solidarity with @TheBMA and junior doctors on strike.
Keir Starmer: Resident doctors should break ranks with the BMA leadership. The industrial action that starts on Friday is in no oneโs interests and medics should not follow their union down its dangerous and destructive route, he says. https://t.co/c1hHMwbliB

I really do find the hosting of a private dinner at Conservative Party Conference an extremely strange activity for the GMC to be funding.
Hi @gmcuk. I'm not sure this is the best use of doctors' registration fees. I hope Mr Massey enjoyed catching up with his Conservative Party friends ๐

I reiterate this. There is NO obligation for any prescriber to sign off a prescription for any non-prescribing individual. Autonomy remains a founding principle!

If there's a chair next to a patient's bed vs. in a cupboard, doctors sit with their patients more and patients are more satisfied with their care (This was a randomised controlled trial - neither patients nor doctors knew the purpose of the experiment!)

5% of med students are from working class background. This is one the of poorest levels of representation across professions. It is intellectual sleight of hand to use a few high performing state schools (frequently in affluent areas) to suggest medicines class diversity is

The @DailyMailUK has realised that 11,757 NHS doctors are unable to get into training jobs because of the government restricting spaces. 1000s of doctors are desperate to specialise and reduce the NHS waiting lists, but are being stopped by @10DowningStreet. This is a scandal.

This is so wildly disingenuous, @gmcuk. You've just been exposed as employing social media specialists to monitor doctors' criticisms of your actions & shape your subsequent strategy. Indeed, I understand I'm one of the doctors you've been spying on - presumably since I have

It is disgraceful that @gmcuk's extensive social listening was only uncovered following a Freedom of Information request, which the GMC stonewalled for as long as possible. It took intervention from @ICOnews before they would respond. Even then, they missed the ICO's deadline.

When will we wake up to the truth: @gmcuk is not fit for purpose. Let us take collective action asap. @DrPhilBanfield @BMA_GP @BMAResidents @BMA_Consultants
โDoctorsโ career paths are also changing, with more doctors than ever before choosing locally employed rolesโ The audacity to call this a choice with training bottlenecks holding thousands of doctors back. Galling but unsurprising from an organisation so detached from reality.

If anyone has any advice on what we can do about this, please get in touch. Who do I hold responsible for my dad's deteriorating health? NHS England? The government? The NHS is letting us all down, this is the fault of those at the top. /

You can clearly see how having trusts who don't share the same IT systems creates delays in care. You can clearly see how outsourcing referrals to specialist physiotherapists, can also cause delays - why could the GP not refer to orthopaedics?! ... 16/

I feel for all those that I see at work, in A&E, who can not get the care that they should because of the system. I have already supported my dad in putting a complaint to PALS, the local ICB, the trust... but it has gone nowhere... 14/

I'm a doctor in the NHS, my parents are proudly working class. I never thought the NHS could get this bad and I'm saddened to be working for such an institution. I respect my colleagues immensely, this a purely a management issue based on years of cuts to the NHS... 13/
