It was a pleasure to write this blog for @ChildrensComm reflecting on the reading achievements of our pupils @Reachhanworthpk. We are building a culture where loving to read is the norm and where our pupils see reading as key to their future success.

This is so lovely from one of our teaching assistants with us in our founding year. Such a special group of staff. Also, lots of opportunities to join us being advertised in December if you want to be a part of this incredible school teaching with some of the very best!

On Thursday we had 100% statutory age attendance (across Year 1, 7 & 8 with 97% non-statutory in Reception). Me & the heads of year always drop into each tutor room each morning & the ripple of excitement around the school as staff found out was amazing. We announced it at…

3. Prioritising disciplinary literacy: all our staff have been committed to teaching reading and writing this year. Our reading routines, comprehension strategies and explicit teaching of vocabulary are consistent across the school.

2. Providing timely intervention: a third of our pupils took part in an online reading programme, Reading Plus, in order to improve fluency and comprehension, some received 1:1 phonics support and some attended a weekly reading club.

Hear from @staff_lily1 about the amazing progress our children are making in their reading. So many came to us saying they never read. Each now are reading 3 books independently & talk about them constantly. A really special culture of reading for pleasure

Had time to reflect on my visit to @Reachhanworthpk, it was absolutely brilliant to finally meet @LouisEverett1 @staff_lily1 and all the staff, the students are a credit to the school and it was amazing to hear their favourite non fiction facts, cant wait to visit again one day!

We are really proud to have hosted an event at RAHP about Reading Plus yesterday! This programme has been transformative in supporting our pupils to make progress with reading. Thank you to everyone @ReadSolutionsUK @JonnyBennett13 @mattyrsuk for their help. #ReadingPlus
