Saying “all the “legal” language has been removed” doesn’t quite cut it unfortunately. A hand was played. We saw it. You can’t just slide the card back in the deck and pretend it never happened.

@Arthur_van_Pelt please try to understand: bitcoin nodes have no concept of images AND any internet protocol, p2p, real time-gaming, client/server can have data hidden in formats, fields, messages. it's just FUNDAMENAL for any moderately complex internet protocol and programming languages.

The idea was to make bitcoin censorship resistant and threat-modeled to resist government control, to make governments comply with bitcoin, not the other way around. If you want your chain to be government and OFAC friendly ethereum and solana are waiting for you.

No. I simply believe developer documentation matters, especially in a legal context. If a BIP's explicit goal is to make bitcoin miners and node operators legally compliant, it dramatically heightens the chance that governments will begin enforcing regulations on node runners
Pledditor is an idealist. He thinks laws should have no bearing on Bitcoin. I'm a realist, I have no desire to end up like Ross or the Samourai knuckleheads. Making it legally risky to run a node on multiple fronts with no articulable benefit is foolish.
