bitcoin has an off by one error in the protocol that allows miners to mine all the remaining subsidy blocks in a few weeks the proposed fix has slowly progressed for 6 years but yeah, lets neuter bitcoin script in 90 days

The DOJ says non-custodial software transfers funds. That it’s the *users* who execute transactions is "both factually wrong and irrelevant,” the Government argues in opposition to Roman Storm's motion for acquittal. *Anyone* can be held liable for unlicensed money transmission
🚨NEW: ROMAN STORM SHOULD NOT BE ACQUITTED, GOV SAYS "The jury reasonably concluded that Tornado Cash transferred funds," according to the prosecution. Full story👇 https://t.co/dbaei0xMsm

@LukeDashjr is there some kind of Luke Lintjr hotline we should have been calling to check if our taproot scripts are deemed worthy enough not to be frozen?

The average channel size on the lightning network has gone absolutely vertical. This indicates a higher level of conviction in channel connections, enabling larger payments between peers. So far, this shift isn't coming from @blocks node despite its huge product rollout week.

People are underestimating the magnitude of this. The Bitcoin Preferred signs now refer to the network OR the asset. Merchants get lower fees. Buyers pay without a taxable event. Paradigm shift. Big step towards real MOE adoption. Incredible work @square team!
This feature will start to roll out tomorrow, allowing you to pay from @CashApp over bitcoin rails using your USD balance - no bitcoin required. This dramatically opens up the aperture of who can pay with bitcoin to our entire monthly user base of 58m - normies included.

@itme_brain It's a very strange argument I see repeated in pleb slop and makes no sense, there's no indication bitcoin is "turning into ethereum", there will never be first class tokens on bitcoin, there will never be a native turing complete VM on bitcoin which makes these eth claims

Wtf does it mean for something to "become Ethereum" Someone please explain to me, because I see this incessent crying that Citrea is "turning Bitcoin into Ethereum" Are we switching to PoS? Are we swapping script out for solidity? Are we changing the blocksize/blocktime?

444Forkers are doing the meme: 1. There won't be a fork, that's absurd 2. OK, we need a fork, but it's fine 3. A fork is happening—sadly it'll seize some coins 4. We must fork at all costs, and people using Bitcoin in advanced custody setups deserve to have their coins seized 🤡
It is well within the filter camp Overton Window to say that some people using bitcoin for monetary reasons is weird and complex and therefore they deserve to have their coins confiscated.

this taproot OP_IF example is much more worrying for the RDTS proposal than I first realized. it's actually a miniscript wallet policy: thresh(3,pk(A),pk(B),pk(C),pk(D),older(T1),older(T2)) meaning "a 3-of-4 multisig, decaying to 2-of-4 after time T1, and 1-of-4 after time T2"
For example, there are a couple of spends using this "decaying multisig" script template, whih uses multiple OP_IFs

RDTS is simply the wrong pathway to go. Yes they're upset about spam and the inscription envelope using OP_IF, but the answer isn't to ban OP_IF. There are genuine monetary and security reasons to keep this functionality in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is not a cult. But it is used as a schelling point for several cults.

since this is a tapscript using OP_IF, any funds received by such a wallet after RDTS activation would be frozen. the owner would also be unable to move their coins to refresh the relative timelocks, perhaps forcing an unintended and catastrophic reduction in security.

Square did their part, now let’s do ours. For bitcoin to become everyday money, merchants need to accept it. But first, they’ll need a reason to. We've put together the resources to help anyone make the case that only bitcoin can defeat credit card fees: https://t.co/fYkCARD5MD

Most likely outcome at this point: RDTS people fork off into a minority chain in early Feb 2026. Reasoning: - Almost all blocks nowadays contain spam - Most mining pools are not concerned about spam. If anything, F2Pool came out AGAINST RDTS. - Most pools will just keep on
@BitMEXResearch I do now! 60% of all blocks historically, but close to 100% since the launch of ordinal inscriptions.
