Basically, this entire thread. One personal note: Like Spenglerson, I grew up on colorblind Sesame Street. It matched my upbringing and so it made sense to me that people who looked different and even had different upbringings had broadly similar lives, dreams, and goals.

In the “old” Sesame Street, the vile hatred directed through Elmo’s hacked account likely would’ve inspired episodes about the targeted group. It would’ve been a teaching moment to educate kids with empathy for the particular group affected. 8/.

And today? Look at Elmo’s “apology”: Sesame Street can’t mention Jews specifically. Even as Jews are singled out for hostile treatment, they can’t be singled out for support. It’s the worldview of teaching institutions from universities to elementary schools to TV shows. 7/.
