In 2019, the NYS legislature amended NY’s rent regulations to remove the statutory ability to deregulate an apt’s rent, making it virtually impossible to turn a regulated apt into a market rate apt. I always thought that was unconstitutional. Maybe we’ll soon find out if it is!

I stg this entire policy proposal is thought up and pushed by people who have never ridden the NYC bus. Half the people already do not pay the fare. The other half are motivated to pay by social norms and no one has explained why we shouldn’t keep those norms in place.

I’m going to let everyone in on a little secret. There’s zero fare enforcement on the bus. If you want the bus to be free, the bus is free. You don’t have to vote for a 33 year old socialist who’s never had a real job and ruin our city in the process.
Free buses are such a good tool for understanding the 🌐 mind. Should be right up their alley since it replaces an inefficient revenue stream while increasing safety/efficiency. But that’s negated by a fundamentally conservative view on tolerance for visible social dysfunction.

My youngest daughter is about the same age as Lishay’s older daughter. For the past two years, every time my baby has shared a moment with her dad, I’ve thought about Lishay and what she and her children have been missing. I’m so happy their father is finally coming home.

Again, I do not mean in any way to disparage Mamdani or his campaign by pointing this out, but "how do we win elections in New York City?" is just not the problem that the rest of the Democratic Party is trying to solve.
When the rest of Democratic Party poll tests and triangulates, the Mamdani campaign works to shift the narrative. Humanity. Visibility. Belonging. That’s the magic we’ve come to expect.
