🥳 It's live! I want to thank all of the speech pathologists who took the time to share their stories with me as I researched and wrote the book. We've worked hard to make the book as practical and positive as possible #slpeeps #SLP #SLP2B

Despite the understandable gloom following the #NDIS therapy pricing review this week, I’m trying to stay calm, positive & connected to colleagues, & the profession I love, remembering we are much more effective when we stick together to solve problems & to support participants.

It’s been a tough week for allied health professionals who deliver clinical care to people with disability in Australia - especially music & art therapists. As we await new NDIA operational guidelines for therapy supports (Monday), & yet more #NDIS changes, let’s work together…

“While art and music therapy remain permissible, they do not meet the evidentiary standards required to be classified as a ‘therapy’ under the definition of NDIS supports.” #NDIS

Interesting #NDIS case: "s. 45 of the NDIS Act does not create an automatic right [in favour of providers] to payment. Instead, it requires the NDIA to determine whether payments are appropriate under the law."

Another week, another #NDIS consultation paper - this one about Targeted Foundational Supports. And, as an allied health clinic owner who sees many children with developmental delay and/or disability, it does not speak to my inner optimist:

A good news story now from a young person we work with in FV. This was powerful feedback from their parent, about the impact getting a diagnosis of DLD made. M's now feeling confident to advocate for himself and what he needs, and seeing hope for the future. ☺️#DLDday @RADLDcam

Yes! DLD is a lifelong neurotype: adults do not “grow out” of DLD, so we must have things in place to support them. We need universities, employers and health services to know that anyone of any age could have DLD!

@RADLDcam (3/7) We worked with @RADLDcam to create a bite-sized guide for #legal professionals working with clients who have #DLD on The Access Brief - but it's really important to remember that adults with DLD are far less likely to have a diagnosis: https://t.co/esacteahIG #DLDday
