Last night, I had the privilege of seeing one of my heroes, Gabor Maté, speak in Sydney. His insights on trauma, growth, and authenticity were powerful and thought provoking. Grateful for the opportunity to hear him in person. #GaborMate

I'm excited to share the evolution of my practice to include psychotherapy. I've always felt that mental health underpins so much of the work I do as a speechie. I'm looking forward to the new direction & hope to provide a more well rounded service to my clients & their families

This article is deeply troubling. It's disheartening to see Australian orgs endorsing forceful therapy programs like this kind of ABA, despite substantial evidence highlighting its harmful effects. Families seeking the best for their kids remain unaware

Just watched 'The Work' documentary (2017). A powerful exploration of masculinity, vulnerability, trauma, and healing. It showcases group therapy sessions with convicted felons and outsiders inside prison. Raw and refreshing to see men open up and bare all. Highly recommended!

Speech pathologists are often good at talking, but we could all learn to become better listeners. I've taken up further studies in trauma-informed psychotherapy. It's opened my eyes to the need to talk less and listen more. I'm looking forward to reflecting on these new ideas.

I recently took my 4 year old son to a cafe. A stranger came up to us as she left and said she was so impressed with all the talking that went on between us. "It just went on and on, back and forth. He's obviously very used to it. You're doing a great job." It made my day! 👨👦
