People from across the political spectrum have said the Online Safety Act goes too far, that it's censorship. Meanwhile, bereaved families and friends are stunned that a popular suicide site still hasn't been banned by the UK. My piece for The @Telegraph
telegraph.co.uk
New analysis has found that that a substance promoted on a pro-suicide forum has been linked to at least 133 UK deaths

Idk I feel like @VeraBaird was an excellent PCC and I hope there is great scope for people like her to have a strong voice in policing
I am abolishing Police and Crime Commissioners. For over a decade, they have overseen our police forces but have failed to provide the sufficient democratic oversight they were set up to do. A change that will save us millions and see money reinvested into frontline policing.

Great to see the gov pushing @Ofcom to implement further protections in the Online Safety Act. @leicesterliz is right - more delays prevent us from protecting women, children and minority groups from harm https://t.co/gyDCdJNDGj

What a sad day and what a tremendous advocate for victims
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Baroness Newlove. Helen was a tireless advocate for victims who challenged justice agencies to treat victims with the compassion, decency and respect they deserve. She'll be greatly missed. Full statement: https://t.co/xn19UFLHfr

My colleague Richard Quigley MP today asked a question to the Prime Minister that reveals the very real possibility that those with eating disorders could be eligible for assisted dying - against NICE guidance.

This week marks one year since the independent 'Best Value' inspection report on Tower Hamlets Council under Mayor Lutfur Rahman was published. The extensive governance failings and "culture of patronage" it revealed led to Govt intervention. Here's a reminder of the conclusions

On November 9–10, 1938, the Kristallnacht pogroms marked the beginning of the systematic persecution of Europe’s Jews. Synagogues and Jewish businesses were destroyed, lives shattered. It was a warning of the horrors that would soon follow.

A rising tide of racism, where ‘70s and ‘80s-style racism has apparently become permissible again in this country, is impacting on NHS staff. The right to free NHS healthcare does not come with the freedom to abuse staff. Don’t like it? Go elsewhere. https://t.co/QbqUFg5D1H

Axel Rudakubana's brother said he was terrifyingly violent towards his family before he went on a rampage last year, murdering three girls in Southport. When violent men and boys wreak hell on communities, it's always worth asking: who did they hurt first?

Dion Rudakubana describes to the Southport Inquiry how he became "increasingly wary" of his sibling.
