Lmao. You can be an idiot or a neo-Nazi (perhaps both) and they'll invoke their principled commitment to 'not gatekeeping', but be a popular immigration restrictionist politician who makes the slopulist online right mad and you're a goner. They do have standards after all.

Fat, middle-aged male politicians should avoid being made to bowl cricket balls at all costs, particularly in business shirts. It’s extremely unbecoming, and KRudd should have known since Howard’s foible with a cricket ball.

They looked at the intractable ethnic and cultural divisions of Afghanistan or Lebanon and thought, you know what… fuck it, we could pull that off in the UK and Australia.
Multiculturalism was a utopian idea which, like all left-wing utopian ideas, has ended in catastrophic failure and created long-term consequences with which we must all now live.

If you’re looking for something to watch, there’s this Dutch female vlogger who’s riding her motorbike through Afghanistan. Parts of Afghanistan are breathtakingly beautiful (in a barren kind of way), and it’s interesting seeing the Taliban in the wild. https://t.co/nl5zhz9c6U

I've ridden 190.000 kilometers solo around the world and still counting! My name is Noraly, I'm Dutch and passionate about motorcycles, traveling and adventuring. In 2018, I quit my job, sold my...

Perhaps living through more than a decade of Vic Labor also made people a bit loopy too.

If an Australian account seems particularly personality and politically disordered on Twitter, 80% chance they’re from Victoria. Covid broke people.
We are all still getting over Covid but Victorians, despite living through the longest lockdowns and the greatest death tolls, want more Brett Sutton level governance ... the provincialising experience of Covid, even where it caused ruin, has been missed esp by Sydney people

That type typically blames others for their failure to thrive. “I’m just a rough girl, I say what I fink and if you don’t like it well den fuck off innit. Fuck with me I’ll cut you ladz” That’s the problem. Just learn some manners and maybe a little discretion: you’ll go far.

The other thing is that a lot of cantankerous, impulsive, impolite people could get much further in life if they just had a bit more common decency and self-discipline. People behave like total street rats then wonder why they can’t seem to come by much success in life.
My hottest take I’m 100% sure is true is that crime causes poverty rather than poverty causing crime. There are no rich high crime areas but there are tons of poor low crime areas, indicating the crime/poverty correlation may be the opposite of what people assume

Imagine if One Nation became a party of government. God help us.
Exclusive: Barnaby Joyce is in advanced talks to defect from the Nationals to Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party. https://t.co/MorPSyis8T

“I heard you playing ‘You Belong to Me’ without caveating and disavowing Taylor’s MAGA RACISM, let alone making me feel unsafe by playing lyrics implying humans can be owned like chattel. Fetch me my phone, we need urgent politicised coaching sessions with Dr Fabello.”

Would expect nothing less from a charlatan who offers “politicized relationship coaching” to help people in relationships align their “social justice values”. Thoughts and prayers for the people forced by their highly neurotic partners to go to such a thing.

A closeish Indonesian acquaintance I met on Java looked very Aboriginal Australian, and soon realised she was originally from Sulawesi (denied knowledge of Australian family ancestry). I posit them Makassarian traders were prolific Chad fuck bois and wife-takers when in Australia

Living on Sulawesi I occasionally came across native Indonesians who had the dead-ringing physiognomy of Australian Aboriginals (who are otherwise very different to the indigenous Sulawesi physiognomies). Australia is only across the border, but otherwise feels a world away.
The original settlers of Island Southeast Asia (the ancestors of the first Australians) were replaced by later waves Most of these migrants came from the north but some sailed west from New Guinea. Their descendants (like this man from Timor) have a complex genetic legacy

Meanwhile India had live births (23 mil) approximating the whole pop of 🇦🇺 (27 mil) in 2024. Although it’s slowed over the decades it still grows apace. China had less than half India’s number (9 mil). Indian and Chinese demographic futures—once similar—are now highly divergent.
This is why Chinese population decline is so important. Their population is declining at an accelerating rate. Each year is like losing an entire small European country. That is a world-changing loss of human capital.

Boomer W. Talk to whatever current teenagers’ generation is and there’s a scarily frequent “hi, I’m Xavier and I have auDHD, MDD, and OCD” accompanied by the paradoxical “I’m not defined by my diagnoses (but everything in my life is refracted through them)” thing. It’s so bizarre
73% of Boomer males: "No matter what psychological challenges I face, I will not let them define me." 72% of Gen Z females: "Mental illness is an important part of my identity."

All this combined with the nightmare of “my truth” subjectivity makes for very deleterious conditions in maintaining a just system of law. We really ought to protect extremely hard won and beautiful system of law. It’s worth protecting and we’ll certainly miss it when it’s gone.

That morality and legality should be increasingly conflated and overlapped. Complainants are ultimately just witnesses in their trials. They don’t run the show: nor should they. Lawyers have duties first and foremost to the court and to justice, rather than to satisfying victims.

There are growing demands for therapeutic justice: that the criminal justice system ought to be adapted to validate the emotional needs of complainants and that failure to secure a conviction is some kind of emotional slight. That pain and distress necessarily entails criminality

Women—with many exceptions and nuances—are masters at three things: knowing social trends, suppression, and guilt. They were basically built to be orthodoxy purveyors and consummate consumers, and otherwise be a highly dominant force in a HRified world.
Everyone should read this. I'm less interested in proof points about it happening (it's happening) than why it's happening. My hypothesis is market forces - from a recent substack:
