The production capacity of the continent runs deeper than our monkey bickering. Its nature is to produce food. It produces when we use a heavy hand, it produces when we use a light hand. It would produce if we were absent. We could harness it for so much more than we can imagine.
The red areas wouldn't produce much food either, as they are wholly reliant on subsidies funded by the economic activity of the blue areas.

Well ain’t that some shit. We need to stop others from farming their own forests because their land is deemed special to us. But the American contingent was luckily just some scrubby shit grassland so farming it to death is okay.

There’s a million little nooks and crannies where we should be planting perennial and tree crops. Why do farmers waste the time putting corn in these places? It’s driven by obsession there’s zero profit motive here.

Had this happen to acquaintances in Iowa. Won $10k at the casino. Cops took it a few miles down the road. They were never charged with anything. Spent about $10k trying to get it back, then gave up.
