Structures which are sorely needed for its neighbour @royal_greenwich A conservation unit would provide much needed expertise. A biodiversity officer would demand the best for green spaces in new builds, and optimise the expertise and enthusiasm of the local community.š³š»š ā¬ļø.
Congratulations to Lewisham council for being awarded £800,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund's Nature Towns & Cities grant. Lewisham has a Conservation Unit, a Biodiversity Partnership, a Biodiversity Action Plan & regular environmental workdays involving the community.

Decision on 103 is pending. Contact your cllrs now. 63 also listed on Public Register as an HMO. Nos. 109, 144 and 169 arenāt listed. 4, potentially 5, HMOs in one street?. Application for single storey rear extension + rear dormer window often prelude to HMO application.
In the past year, 103, 109, 144 and 169 McLeod Road have had change of use from family homes to HMOs. Is someone buying up these houses in Abbey Wood, or just a coincidence?.

āGuess he forgot?ā Clearly @Len_Duvall doesnāt use the lift himself. I can understand why politicians representing central and W London - with their myriad bridges - donāt care about us here in S E London, but Mr Duvall? You were elected to care. What are you doing about this?.
@semlonghurst @Len_Duvall I wrote to Duvall some time ago to ask if he would get involved in trying to get the Woolwich tunnel north lift repaired. Got a reply from one of his staff explaining that he was aware the lift is out. That was it. Well itās been out almost 3 years now, I guess he forgot.

Social Justice for South East London! š§ā𦽠š¶āāļø š“āāļø .What about help from @Len_Duvall London Assembly Member for Greenwich and Lewisham?.
The lack of 24/7 active travel routes to cross the river in SE London is shameful. Who will address it?.@SebDance?.@metecoban92?.@MayorofLondon?.@willnorman?.Itās unjust that so much was spent on #SilvertownTunnel when what we need is a crossing for bicyclists and walkers.

More public housing, and stronger regulation of the private sector needed, and also strong planning rules to hang onto the all-too-few houses š”š”š” in our country.
"Speaking with residents who have gone through the process of having HMOs appear next to them, they were shocked that there was no control. It seems that some of these developers know the system very well and can work their way around it within the law."

And it would be nice to think Greenwich & Woolwich Labour Party wouldnāt do it again either. How about PR? Good idea? See Will Haywardās article today in The Guardian. @GWLabour.@RajaZeeshan83.

These scare tactics didnāt work this time. Greens were the real threat, but Labour carried on using the bogeyman of Reform to try to stop people voting Green. Donāt let them do this again.

If only RBG would get more £££ from CIL like other boroughs, e g Greenwich v Tower Hamlets - residential per sq m. Zone 1£150[G] v £327.78 [TH].Zone 2£96 [G] v £175.60 [TH]. Then it wdn't feel the need to sell off community asset Green Garth @MajidurR @TheMurkyDepths.
š”Last year we started building more affordable homes than any other London borough, repeating our success from 2022, 2023 and 2024. šļøWork began on 608 new homes, with 790 completed. š©āš©āš§āš¦879 homes are for let at social rents to families and individuals on our housing register.

Please change the planning rules to favour permanent homes šļøšļøšļø over PBSAs. Purpose Built Student Accommodation is nice to have, but in a housing crisis it should take 2nd place. @mtpennycook.
My parents realised their dream of owning their house, and I had a safe, secure home to grow up in. For too many today that dream is slipping out of reach. That's why we're setting up the National Housing Bank ā unlocking billions of pounds to build over half a million homes.

Can the Russians be stopped from using SWIFT for trading in commodities other than agricultural goods, like oil and gas? Sounds fishy.
Also hinges on EU approval to reconnect the Russian Agricultural Bank to SWIFT. Looks like those freeloading Europeans are being asked to "bail out" the United States in its diplomatic capitulation to Russia.

I donāt recall an illuminated sign here before. Did @TfL seek + obtain planning permission? Why not site it - is it even necessary? - in a hard surface area, rather than ruin the only public green space around. Bigging up TfL rather than providing a public service announcement.
Today I did a reccy on Greenwich Peninsula searching for the cycle lanes leading to the Silvertown Tunnel cycle bus stop. It was in vain. The large billboard is on East Greenwich ārose gardenā. This is TfLās āgiftā to the people of Greenwich.

Do either of you know whether homes bought using precious public funds are kept in public ownership in perpetuity? If not, and they enter the private housing market, weāll never solve the housing crisis. @TheMurkyDepths @PhinHarper.
Councils are buying back their own homes at far higher prices than they originally sold them for. Why? Because even at high prices, it makes perfect economic sense to invest in public ownership. National government must do more to build up the nation's public housing stock.
