When I was a graduate student at Caltech, I found one of the first left-handed forms of DNA (Nature 1980). Dozens of "experts" told me it was "impossible". Some with Nobel Prizes. They did everything they could to delay such an important discovery! 🤡 Even Francis Crick. Since

Could horizontal transfer be abundant not just in bacteria but also in eukaryotes? A recent work by Pianezza R, Haider A, Scarpa A, Signor S and Kofer R finds 3 HTs of transposons in a mere 30years. https://t.co/8rgSmtWnA2

Someone made a helpful guide to accessing scientific papers:
You don't need to be constrained to only reading open-access articles. If you want to access scientific publications, you should use sci-hub and archival services, check for preprints, request PDFs on /r/scholar, go through ResearchGate... Knowledge is supposed to be free.

Me resulta incomprensible que los ingenieros en software sean tan anti-comunistas cuando el 99% del desarrollo de software se basa en programas de código abierto y gratuito. Es decir, efectivamente los medios de producción son gratis y accesibles a todos.

From octopuses to snails, the complicated molluscan family tree has now been mapped in unprecedented detail, researchers report in Science. This includes sequences for 13 new complete genomes from across the phylum. https://t.co/C9uchQxdib

Artists, writers, filmmakers: Please integrate COVID into your cultural work. Avoiding COVID in your content erases a critical part of history. And we all know what horrible things can happen when we as a society fail to learn from history.
