When I was a graduate student at Caltech, I found one of the first left-handed forms of DNA (Nature 1980). Dozens of "experts" told me it was "impossible". Some with Nobel Prizes. They did everything they could to delay such an important discovery! 🤡 Even Francis Crick. Since

Could horizontal transfer be abundant not just in bacteria but also in eukaryotes? A recent work by Pianezza R, Haider A, Scarpa A, Signor S and Kofer R finds 3 HTs of transposons in a mere 30years. https://t.co/8rgSmtWnA2 #evolution #drosophila

You don't need to be constrained to only reading open-access articles. If you want to access scientific publications, you should use sci-hub and archival services, check for preprints, request PDFs on /r/scholar, go through ResearchGate... Knowledge is supposed to be free.

Me resulta incomprensible que los ingenieros en software sean tan anti-comunistas cuando el 99% del desarrollo de software se basa en programas de código abierto y gratuito. Es decir, efectivamente los medios de producción son gratis y accesibles a todos.

I'm thrilled to announce that our lab has relocated to @MPI_EvolBio MPI for Evolutionary Biology 🥳. I had a great experience starting my group at the institute of Population Genetics @PopGenVienna , and enjoyed collaborating with the population genetics community in Vienna.

Artists, writers, filmmakers: Please integrate COVID into your cultural work. Avoiding COVID in your content erases a critical part of history. And we all know what horrible things can happen when we as a society fail to learn from history.
