Important proposal this. As with HS2 a new railway line between Liverpool and Manchester isn't just about passengers, it's about freeing up capacity for freight, too. We look forward to finding out more details of this project, known as "The Northern Arc". https://t.co/lervhRyawG

The major plan for a "Northern Arc" could add Β£7 billion to the UK economy

This is the latest on port access following our letter to the @LpoolCityRegion at the beginning of the year. Coming up with a plan to solve this challenge is essential to protecting Rimrose Valley long-term. Read more below π https://t.co/Kj0ypX34wK

Our friends @TransportActio2 flagged these workshops to us, so we've been in Manchester today. @transportgovuk is consulting ahead of publishing its Integrated Transport Strategy later this year. We were there to make sure the movement of freight is on the agenda πβοΈπ³

Your report is already out of date @RHANews π€ You're calling for roads to be delivered which have only just been cancelled by the government you're lobbying. This includes A5036 Princess Way which was opposed by @Bill_Esterson for 7+ years, so good luck with that one.
We were thrilled to be joined by the Minister for Future of Roads @LilianGreenwood & MPs from across the political spectrum at our parliamentary reception last night where we launched our road investment report. Road investment brings Β£26bn in benefit to the UK economy and is

As we start 2025, we've made a fresh approach to @LpoolCityRegion's Port Access Steering Group (PASG). This group holds the answers to solving the issues around port access, but must start engaging with the communities impacted by its decisionsπ https://t.co/YkwG45r02e

As Rimrose Valley has no gates with locks, it doesn't fall under the 'closed' category. We advise staying away from tall trees and wooded areas if you want use the park today. Stay safe everyone π
There are a number of closures in place as Sefton prepares for Storm Darragh π¨β οΈβ On Saturday we will experience strong winds of up to 80 mph in coastal locations like Sefton. For live updates and advice, head to: https://t.co/jqFWUyUQAn

Many of you couldn't make our 'thank you' gathering on Rimrose and we know it was short notice. Fear not! You can hear exactly what was said on the day in this special podcast episode: "We did it! Rimrose Valley is Saved!". It's a long one...!π³βπ https://t.co/YHKEUn9uqN

Proud to be part of this Alliance which is all about tackling key issues across South Sefton to improve our quality of life. Read what we've been doing in relation to improving conditions along the A5036 here π
Among our Alliance's objectives are making our roads and streets cleaner and safer, and improving air quality. Read our letter to @NationalHways regarding the unacceptable state of the A5036. https://t.co/YDdldVRjxR

This is a shock and a shame. We owe @LouHaigh a lot, as it was her decision to cancel the Port of Liverpool Access Road, for which we'll always be grateful. She had great plans for improving transport across the north. We hope her successor picks up where she left off.
In just a few short months as 'Passenger in Chief', @LouHaigh moved fast and was already beginning to fix things. Railways back under public ownership. Turbocharging public control of buses. And a real commitment to fixing the North's creaking infrastructure. She'll be sorely

The immediate threat to Rimrose Valley might have gone away, but there's still lots to do to oppose roadbuilding across the country. If you can, please consider supporting our friends at @TransportActio2 as they take this fight to court. Full details below π
Hours before the previous Parliament broke up in May, the Tories formally designated a new policy to make it even easier to bulldoze new roads through our countryside. We had hoped Labour would do something different... π§΅

Fantastic news. Hopefully no more dodgy cost-benefit cases, and serious thought into every major transport project π
I want to overhaul how we assess transport infrastructure to focus on outcomes. That means more jobs, improved access to education & healthier communities. Getting this right will rev up transport as an engine for social mobility and economic growth π https://t.co/vTOflgrP85

This is the potential better rail freight connectivity has to transform living conditions here in South Sefton. A real-life example, right here in the UK. Over to you @transportgovuk @networkrail @MetroMayorSteve @PeelPorts We'll be 100% behind this π https://t.co/7hvZFWFvRE

A year ago, only one container in five left Southampton docks by rail now it is almost one in three.

What a fantastic way to celebrate saving Rimrose Valley! After years of campaigning, Iβm thrilled the Labour Government halted this road project and preserved a much-loved green space in Sefton. Congratulations to all our community @saverimrose @seftoncouncil and @Peter_Dowd
Today was lovely, culminating in kids planting an oak tree which will hopefully be there for generations to come π We didn't take many pictures so would really appreciate it if you could send us yours. Please can you send them to stu@rimrosevalleyfriends.org Ta!
