We have a new story on river pollution. I think it's an important one. It shows that the current system that asks water companies to "self monitor" whether their treatment plants are operating legally is badly broken Here's a thread on what we found https://t.co/GDKtrSbram

Water companies often release illegal levels of a toxic pollutant into rivers in breaches that go undetected because of a flawed “self-monitoring” system, analy

Last year I exposed how Bloomsbury dropped Time to Think, a book that helped reveal the bad practices at the Tavistock Gender Identity Clinic Rather than admit it made a mistake, the publisher chose to fight me, launching one of the most extensive Ipso complaints ever made🧵

Can't think of many better illustrations of how badly we have botched housing policy than the fact that our bill for housing homeless families (£2.8bn pa) is now higher than the money we spend each year on new affordable housing (£2.3bn) https://t.co/ACqB1T0En7

Councils in England spent a record £2.8bn on temporary accommodation last year, with the annual bill rising by 25% as the homelessness crisis deepens.

Just mind-blowing... Here I am at my desk, 9:56 on a Monday morning about to start writing about football. Whilst less than a 5 hour flight away, people are having their lives ruined every minute of every day. It's got to end. 🇵🇸
A Palestinian girl went into shock and broke down after surviving an Israeli airstrike that targeted her family’s home in Gaza City.

Guess how many betting shops I found on the high street in Hampstead? You won't find a single one. Lower-income areas don’t get that luxury, they’re flooded with them. It’s time to end ‘Aim to Permit’ and give communities a real say.

If you want to show the nation that the ‘raising the flag’ movement isn’t just a bunch of racist arseholes - taking a photograph of a Muslim woman going about her day, and then gleefully mocking her on here like a juvenile twat is not the correct way to go about it.

It's not that we don't have fascists, we do! But you'll never see ours trying to paint this bad boy on shops or roundabouts. Maybe the England flag needs an upgrade to something you'd at least need a GCSE in art to attempt it.

Think of everything that went into this - the planning, the costing, the manufacture, the scientific expertise, the wish to educate & inform and share appreciation of nature. And the moron.

My God. Each pair of shoes is a child's life.
Today in Utrecht a grim milestone was marked; for the 2nd year in a row, a Dutch activist group laid out children’s shoes & read aloud the names & ages of the children who have been killed by the Israelis in Gaza. Today they read 19k names. It took almost 6 hours.
