This is the first time I've ever seen this referred to as Adult Animation. I grew up watching this!.
Ren and Stimpy premiered 34 years ago today. This ground-breaking animation was an instant hit and ushered in the rise of alternative adult-oriented cartoons. Although it's marred by the actions of its creator, Ren & Stimpy's influence on animation and pop culture is undeniable.

I actually struggle to think of a pre-20th century writer that is a more instantly accessible, easy read than Flaubert. Flaubert is masterful because he makes the novel so immediate. There’s a reason we use him as a gateway drug, right? Not Henry James or David Foster Wallace….
