America has a housing crisis in large part because (a) local governments control land use policy, and (b) homeowners over the age of 65 who dislike neighborhood change are WILDLY overrepresented in the electorate for off-cycle local government races.
"Why does the government give old people everything" because they vote. Because they never don't vote. Because they have 90% turnout on off-year special elections that happen on a Saturday in July. Vote like old people and the government will revolve around you too.

Quite a bit of anti-Hashmi rhetoric tonight, not just from John Reid, who said she was funded by the “radical Islamists” supporting Zohran Mamdani. Youngkin just said he wants Spanberger “to just go home,” but as for Hashmi, “I don’t even want her in the state.”
