Now an open discussion should be on how (not on shutting down debate and dismissing research). Lastly, we should differentiate between clinical psychologists and forensic ‘psychologists’. One focuses on care and recovery. The other on ‘risk’ management.

Violence (and a violent response) should always be contextualised (it is never an isolated incident). It is a product of social conditions. Do prisons need NTRG? Yes. Do officers need protection? Yes. Is UoF training fit for purpose? No.

In the interests of fairness/ balance:. Many academics/ violence researchers are studying long-term effects of ‘reactive’ methods. (Can’t speak for others) I’m not against PPE. I’m against a one-sided/ adversarial focus on weapons. We want the same things: *prevent* violence.
This is why we need Taser. This is why we need body armour . THINGS MUST CHANGE. @POAUnion
