Our new paper, based on data from 1,705 studies, shows that pesticides are toxic to organisms they are not intended to harm, including fungi, microbes, plants, insects, & vertebrates such as ourselves. Questions the wisdom of applying over 3 million tonnes of them every year...

Our new article maps the risk of whale-ship collisions globally for blue, fin, humpback, and sperm whales. We found that risk is widespread, and current levels of protection are low. Please get in touch if you have any questions about our article!

Antarctic blue whales display high movement rates around the Southern Ocean. Estimated 8-32% movement rates from one ocean basin to another each year, and therefore circumpolar-wide complete mixing in under 10 years. https://t.co/tMn8QZMN6g New by @ZoeRand, me, @polarbiome

The best thing my students ever gave me. I thought they were just really diligent note-takers the whole semester, but it turns out they were compiling a book of all the craziest things I'd said, all *very much* out of context. It's 152 pages long.
