I think it's the perfect example of the insanity of public service, bureaucracy and taxes. I paid taxes to no end and these people cannot even do their job. Time for a change.

Some humour. Needed a DEAD city tree declared dead and removed by the city so they wouldn't fine me. Followed the process, a year later after contacting them many times, going to my councillor to get action, finally contracted (paid for) an outside firm to rip it out.

Took a job (because our govt keeps stripping away the money I made as an entrepreneur). This time for a US backed firm - not worth it to risk being an entrepreneur. Oh...except now they take 53.5% of every dollar I make in employment taxes. 😆

Sold in 2019 to an American company (bu-bye canada owned and built) I have been audited twice (they found nothing yet cost me hundreds of thousands in MY costs), I spend countless hours with CRA supporting a bigger cast of auditors (anyone see the irony).

Had to watch as our bureaucrats and elected officials roll out the carpet for foreign corporations (READ: most revenue and profit flowed out of canada) Paid all my personal taxes, corporate taxes and had 800 highly trained CANADIAN employees pay their taxes.

1/X Quit my job, started a company in '04 off a loan I took out against the equity in my home (READ: if it failed I took all the risk and would lose my home). Saw both municipal and federal governments had out their business to buddies and US companies for 15 years.
More bureaucracy. Fewer entrepreneurs. 8 years of Trudeau.
