Tech writer Kara Swisher has long reported on tech by getting cozy with it. Her new book tries to make sense of industry ruptures she really should have seen coming. https://t.co/GxRP2DM9ny

Kara Swisher made a career of dumbing down tech reporting and criticism. She’s a little sorry!

This was a personal milestone for me. Jesse's book literally got me into UX and here we are interviewing him for our company podcast! Surreal moment and amazing conversation (yes I'm biased, but I promise you'll love it) all about design leadership - check it out!
“Design leadership is not a singular visionary, the design leader is a synthesizer of perspectives” @jjg joined us on our latest podcast! Listen here: https://t.co/OGrR6Rgk8E

I am reminded of the words of Frederick Douglass, whose powerful speech on the hypocrisy of celebrating such values while enslaving African Americans still resonate today. Until inequality & discrimination are eradicated, our work as a nation is incomplete. https://t.co/WWJtL7BZur

In July of 1852, Frederick Douglass delivered a speech titled “What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?,” a call for the promise of liberty be applied equally to all Americans. Douglass’s speech...

The time has come for the Flickr Foundation to create its first software repository - YAY! - and, as part of that process, we need to select an open-source software license. What do you think is the right license for us to choose? Comments welcome!

A new Prelinger Archivist is moving to the Bay and looking for housing: East Bay (Berkeley and points N, possibly Oakland); $3000 max; dog friendly; ideally 1 or 2 bedroom with a garage and outdoor space. Hoping June 1. These would be wonderful tenants. Any leads? Thanks!

We lost our Twitter checkmark today. We applied with Twitter to receive verification reserved for government entities. We have not heard back yet. Anyways. It's a beautiful day in the Bay Area. We currently have 59 trains in service. No delays reported. Thank you for riding BART
Tomorrow, 4/20, we are removing legacy verified checkmarks. To remain verified on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue here: https://t.co/gzpCcwOXAX Organizations can sign up for Verified Organizations here:

Though small for a global social network, #Mastodon's user count just passed 10,000,000, a milestone in its growth. https://t.co/LO1WvavOi1 (And still far more pleasant than the service you're using now.)

Seems like a good time to boost this. And Mammoth has just launched v1.1, with many improvements. And on Mastodon, um, links, you know, work.
Joining Mastodon (the far friendlier social network) just got easier with the launch of Mammoth, and iOS and Mac client that removes that initial barrier, choosing a server, as they host one. https://t.co/ewUZEIXc0I I've used it throughout beta, and it's a solid piece of work.

The tweets by the people you follow are not the problem. It's the utterly absolutely mindless inanity of the replies to those tweets that has turned this place into a cesspool. I hadn't realized how bad it was until coming back here from Mastodon. It's... stark.
